More progress today I tackled dropping and disassembly of the rear end. Had to disconnect brake lines, rear shocks, abs brake and speed sensors, remove diff bolt and subframe bracket plates then dropped the two subframe bolts while was supported by pole jack. Once on the floor I was able to disassemble everything fairly easily, with the exception of my left axle. I had to pound at with a BFH for a 20-30 minutes before it came out. Heated up the subframe bushings with a torch and used a puller tool, they slid right out the heat helped big time, and did the same with the RTABS. I pressed In my new condor bushings by hand was pretty easy.

Progress made on Turkey day I put the rear end back together and put it back up in the car, had a couple of small surprises but nothing that was too major.
The first 2 came about when fitting the e30 axles in. Found out the hard way I needed to space out the abs sensor away from axles with a washer because the e30 axles are slightly bigger, easy fix but I need to replace one sensor now. I also didn't realize that the medium case 3.23 lsd I have from z3m had different axle flanges than e30, easy swap from an e30 diff that my buddy happen to have around. I got super lucky with that. The last major PITA was that my diff cover that I'm using interfered with the cross beam on the chassis. The subframe was already bolted up and didn't want to undo my work so I used a dremel to grind away where it interfered and also ground down the bolt head to half its thickness. We shall see if I get any vibrations it's still pretty close.

Made some good progress in past couple of days, I put the motor tranny and drive shaft in now it's down to all the little details now to get everything to work harmoniously.
Since I was doing this during the holiday I didn't have an extra hand to help me with the heavy lifting, so things got real fun at times.

Tranny after I cleaned the **** out of it in the parts washer


Cleaned and undercoat the M3 front subframe I'm using
Cleaned steering rack

Installed flywheel and clutch

Mated the tranny

Fought me a bit but got it in

Power steering kit installed

Looks Great! What Power steering kit did you end up going with?? I plan on doing something similar to mine soon, since it tends to leak all of the time

I bought a power steering kit from this place called off camber motorsport, there website seems to be down but they have a Facebook page, the kit is made by them and uses high quality AN fittings and lines and a aluminum reservoir. Got some more work done! I hooked up the engine harness to everything, ran the fuel lines, which took some slight innovation, so the e36 obd2 fuel rail has quick connect lines and the 318ti had clamped hoses. What I did was buy 3/8" barbed hose unions frome ace hardware and join the quick connect hose with the stock one. I also had to get creative with the vacuum lines and pcv valve venting. The OBD1 valve cover has a check valve that clips into it then you run breather hose from there to intake boot and vacuum line from throttle body. Since I'm running obd2 and using cyclonic oil separator that drains to obd2 dipstick tube, I had to find a way to connect check valve to separator which usually connects to obd2 valve cover with hard plastic pipe. I found a part while at autozone that looked just right for the task, a randome pcv hose connector and barbed vacuum hose union. Had to use a kit that lets you run m50 intake manifold on m/s52 and put front end back together with fresh painted Mtech bumper. Swapped my control arm bushings out for my bimmerworld CABs and installed the X-brace.

After I first finished the install of motor last year and ran the car there was a clear and major harmonics problem, the motor vibrated really bad in all rpm ranges. I actually had the pressure plate removed and balanced thinking that may solve it, being that it was a cheap eBay single mass flywheel and clutch kit. I broke in the motor for 1600 miles, but after a few weeks of tender driving I finally had enough and brought car by my engine builder so he can have a look. After a short test drive he told me to immediately remove the motor and bring it back to him for rebalance. Reluctant to start my build all over again I sourced a junkyard m52 to drop in as a place holder so I can still drive car. That motor ran crappy and needed a teardown so I parked the car for nearly 9 months while I wait for my engine builder to finish with my block.

Unfortunately the machine shop took forever to rebalance the rotating assembly but they did cover the work under warranty. Fast forward to 2nd week of July my motor was finished and rebalanced. Pulling the motor was a blessing in disguise because the machine shop disassembled my oil pump and showed me it was shot and would have failed at any moment. So while the motor was out I consulted with a few guys who track there cars and decided to switch a few things up in the build. Things I've changed or added include;
-S54 dual pickup oil pump and pan setup
-VAC Motorsports upgraded s54 oil pump
-Stewart's racing water pump
-Tilton 7.25" rally twin disk clutch pack with steel flywheel
-Tilton hydraulic release bearing
-ATI / VAC Motorsport super damper (fluid damper to rule out any and all potential harmonics)
Also changed my tune in the ecu to RK tunes software, because the tune I had was giving me fuel mixture codes and misfires
