Question Change oem steering wheel

I have a 97 318ti base model 5 speed. I would like to swap out my oem 4 spoke steering wheel for a steering wheel with audio and cruise control buttons. Is this feasible and if so what steering wheel should I get?

E36s (like the ti) weren't wired for steering wheels with buttons. While it could maybe be done (in theory), it would require installing a wiring harness from an E39 or E46- and someone who really had a good idea about what they were doing. Adding in the cost of the new wheel and airbag, you could be looking at well over $1000 easily.

I found two forum threads discussing this topic. I was thinking about doing the same thing about buying the slip ring, e39 buttons, but I'm a little unsure if it's compatiable with an aftermarket deck. Take a look at these two threads:
