Update! Though my interior was in great shape I decided I needed some sport seats for the extra adjustments as I am a big dude. I found some leather grey seats that were in good shape. From a right-hand-drive car so the left seat was in better shape than the right. I am happy to be more comfortable. Really like the new interior.

I also mailed DME to Barrie for a tune. It definitely makes a difference. My cat was bad also, seemed blocked. It had already been replaced by an aftermarket at some point, so I got a new cat and threw on a Remus exhaust. I like the way it sounds. I’m thinking about fogging the airbox next, whatever that is.

My cluster had a background light out so I figured that I would re-wrap my steering wheel while I was getting to those. When I pulled the steering wheel off I found that all the wires on the slip ring were ripped, thus found why my air bag light has been on. So, I got a rebuilt slip ring and reset the light. No more air bag light!

My top leaks and the headliner was sagging so I took the headliner off, blew out the drains and zip tied them. I was going to redo liner and button up, but it still was leaking a little. I debated silicone the seal, but ended up ordering a new seal and am waiting for it now.

….so, finally after all this time I have no more warning lights on! New interior to boot.

Nice. So, add cleaning and dry lubing the Cali Top for smoother operation if it hasn't been done recently. Also condition the top with all the ragtop stuff.

Then come and do mine please....

Default Maintenance Update

finally getting caught up on spring maintenance. One thing led to another…..

The engine had started knocking. Upon checking it out the boot on cylinder 2 wasn’t on. It had gotten so oil soaked that it expanded and was slipping off the plug. The other plugs where corroded. So a spark plug change turned into valve cover gasket/new wires/and new coil pack also because someone had previously roughed mine up. Amazing this thing was running. I had no CEL BTW. The Bosch wires didn’t seem to fit in there as nicely as the ones that I was replacing.

Then I decided I minus well put in the LSD that I had sitting around. 3.45 small case.

Since I now have a LSD I figured I minus well try out the M-tech steering wheel. Also installed a better color matched stereo and FINALLY replaced the HVAC light that was out and the cause of frustration!

Then fixed the passenger side window. The felt liner on the guide had bunched up, preventing the window from coming down. So glued it back into place.

Since I now have a M-tech steering wheel. I figured I had better put on the M-tech trim, but stalled waiting on more clips.

Removed the folding top to do the gasket. Replacing other dried up rubber on the body as well.

Also, had a small coolant leak that I couldn’t find. So used a pressure test kit and found it. Thankfully it was on the upper radiator hose, which is the best luck I’ve had outta all this stuff.

I’ve driven it a few times since. The extra cylinder is nice, and it’s much much smoother. Haven’t been able to fully test the LSD out too much, though I can get it going in quick cornering. I can’t wait for some rain soaked streets for even more fun.

Everything seems to be holding up fine on the limited runs I’ve done so far. However, I’m not satisfied with the top gasket. With all the screws tightened down it still has a lip on one corner. I am going to have to take it back out and back in I guess to get it right. It’s a tight fit. I took it out and in several times when I first installed it and still didn’t get it right. Not sure...

I had planned on doing the cross brace and short shifter, but got tired out. I still have a TI swap project to do this summer! This stuff can get exhausting.
