Default Windshield Wiper Trauma.

Okay so I read through some of the older threads regarding wipers, but nothing like my situation really. I was driving in the rainiest day of the year (near hurricane levels of rain) and I was going about 40mph up a road near my hometown and the windshield wipers simply stopped working. I had to navigate to the side of the road without visual aid and call for help. After waiting for a break in the rain, I headed home and got the wipers to work, just not correctly. The stop position had changed to vertical, and they wiped from a standing position, to the center bottom, then to the vertical position again. I've got it now so that I can use them semi-regularly, except they still malfunction a bit. After wiping the entire windshield, they settle at the bottom and then move upwards an inch or two. I think I've got to get a new windshield wiper controller? I think it was $85 on pelican, but I just wanted to make sure that this was the case...any way to get out of spending money is a good one. Thanks in advance guys.

-Andy

EDIT:: Heres a video of what I was talking about:

hmm sounds like what is wrong with my e30. it stops in the verticle position.

curious to see the fix.

wheni looked at it it looked like it needed to be taken off the controller and moved back to the stopped position and the bolts back down

Yeah...check out the video now. They no longer stop in upright position, but rather kick back a little at the bottom. Annoying as hell, let me tell you. It's as if my wipers had a stroke and can no longer function normally.

Motor as in the part that's located behind the glove box? I would probably most definitely be interested in buying that...haha.

Had similar on mine, just jammed up against each other while it was raining (typical). Basically the nuts holding the blades onto the spindles work loose after a while which leads to the spindles just spinning without moving the blades.
To fix just pop open the hood take the caps covering the nuts off the move the blades to their start positions (make sure the spindle is also in its start position) then tighten the nuts, nice and simple if that's the problem although it looks like it may be the controller or the linkage in your case.
