Default M3 brakes installation

I just got front M3 brakes which include disk brakes, calipers, brake pads, and spindles. Is that all i need to install the new brakes on my ti or do i need something else and how do you recommend i install the brakes? Can i do it myslef or do i need to take it into a shop? Also, my original factory brakes are for sale.

i would help you out but im going to do this swap soon myself. just havent been able to get around to it.
i think some sanding and primer and paint and clear would do the trick on painting the calipers.

Not to mention that there is nothing special to this swap... You are just removing the stock parts, and putting the M3 parts back on. Brake calipers come off with two bolts, the caliper brackets come off with two bolts. Removing the spindles will probably be the only difficult part, and there are certainly articles out there for doing DIY spindle replacements.

If you don't know how to do a basic brake job, new pads/rotors, might be best to take this to your mechanic.

This is for you safety. Doing the brake replacement the 1st time. You should always go to a mechanic. Let him do it and just watch carefully how he do it.

I used to do this all the time... my favorite quote is from a mechanic who told me "The job will cost $x.xx, but if you watch, it will cost $x.xx + 50.00, and $x.xx +100.00 if you ask questions!

It is a great way to learn!

KaysterX - I'm just over the bridge in Vallejo, if you ever need/want help in person, feel free to ask...

p.s. Karen, it's "you're last"

Did you finish it yet? I am noticing that the ABS sensor wheel is different, the original on my '96 is like a smooth solid disk with rectangular slots cut into it and the M3 brakes I got have triangular shaped edges like a sawblade. Picture is kind of fuzzy because it's all gunked up.. Guess I should probably clean it off somehow.. Hopefully my abs will still work..

I haven't even started yet, I'm working on my 84 e30 Baur and 87 e30 325is. I should have time soon to get it done.

youd need a pickle fork and large hammer as well. Very simple replacement, not worthy of a mechanic.

i got away with a hammer and a xtra large crescent wrench.. not good for the tool, but it didn't take much. My pickle fork was too small.. I'm wondering if I'm supposed to grease up the sensor so particles don't stick to it? My sensors were greased when I pulled them out and the trigger wheels in the M3 spindles look greased too..
