Default Noise in the front Passenger end

Background: 1996 318Ti, stock suspension with Bilstein shocks all round. Snow tires on aloy rims. pretty much stock all the way.

Symptoms: Grinding noise coming from the passenger side front (I think) when cold. The noise is increased when turning to left not the right. I thought the hub was on the demise. The noise is not there after driving for a few KMs (i.e. 5), also noise minimized when the day is warm. Noise is present when rolling without the aid of the engine.
I have (without success)
1. Replaced passenger side front Hub
2. Front Rotors, pads.
2. Moved the new hub from passenger side to driver side, so old hub is on Passenger side now.

Any ideas what this grinding noise might be (it sounds like a bad hub) ... it is driving me crazy!

Swap the front tires side to side and see if it moves...

My front hubs sound bad and it is from the bad tires.

I am posting the solution so that others may benefit by my experience

It was the "Centre bearing" that was causing all this headache. I replaced this and all is well again. I was close to "scrapping the peice of junk". Anyway that is history now.

"Mallard" has published the schematic on following thread (Thanks)
