I don't have any sugestions on what to do, but if you need a "bright side" to focus on, remember that the 318ti shares many of the front end parts with other models so they're easier to find and cheaper. If the damage had been to the rear of the vehicle, you'd have a much more difficult and expensive task ahead of you.

Good luck with getting back on the road! :-)

How to make it better? Well if funds isn't an issue, I'd put a new motor (M52 or S52) in there and build around that.

I would just love to put one of those engines in but money sadly is an issue. Well yeah thankfully the rear end is intact it was a front end collision but the driver side wheel is all wobbly and stuff, I think i need a new tie rod assembly. but so far i bought what I thought was a bumper but come to find out its just a bumper cover so now i have to get the whole front end. This is the bumper cover that I bought.

I'd say in your case, no it's not a a blessing unless you have insurance willing to pay someone qualified to get it straightened out and back on the road. From that one photo I'd say you could upgrade the front bumper, headlights and air intake but that's about all thats in the damage zone. Even new springs and shocks should be done all around so that's $$ into the undamaged rear end. Still, there's nothing really bad with new OEM parts and a paint job!

I'm sorry to hear about your car but if it helps at all, look around junk yards, scrap yards etc for cars with no front end damage a lot of front end parts are interchangable like was said and it would be a good learning experience to fix

it could be a blessing is disguise...a message to be careful driving. i dont know your driving habbits or anything, but i know i also had a lead foot and would drive way too fast...took me 3 speeding tickets and a tiny little bumper scratcher rear ender to get it through my head. i didnt get the message until i got my 31 over speeding ticket...which i consider to be a blessing in disguise, as much as it sucks, granted i realize a big wreck and a big speeding ticket are a bit different (though the money ive spent on speeding tickets certainly adds up, not to mention a pending license suspension)

but i guess the message is....you got in a wreck for a reason...what's been done is done...you can't change it now, but learn a lesson from the situation so you can prevent it from happening again.

i find thats the best outlook to have on a bad situation. good luck man, i wish you the best.

In my case its been a blessing in disguise. I usually drive fast and I've learned that when driving in unfamiliar territory, I should always slow down, no matter what time of day. I should drive more carefully at night - no matter how familiar the territory. I should be careful in the rain and after it has finished raining. . .this will carry over to when I'm driving in snow.

Where it comes to my car, with the rear end swap I'm doing, I'll be getting beefier half shafts, a 3.73 LSD vs the stock open diff, KYB adjustable shocks, and cross drilled slotted brakes. Plus I'll still have the rest of the car to part out allowing me to break even.

So, my accident will help make me a better driver and give me the opportunity to do upgrades to my car for near $0 cost. If this hadn't happened, I'd still have been driving the same way and likely only upgrade the diff with an ebay LSD (whose cost would have been out of pocket).

Honestly, I do not think that damage will be hard to repair. Except for the frame rails, most everything there has the ability to be unbolted from the car.

Look on ebay, shop around here, and see what the yards can get you. If you find a TI in a yard with an intact rear suspension, let me know, I need a new driver's side trailing arm
