Default California Top Swap?

Hey everbody, so I have a ti with just a normal sunroof but I've always liked the California top. Recently I found a ti on craigslist that the guy totalled and is parting out and you guessed it it has the california top. Is it possible/within reason to california top swap a ti from my understanding the california tops are pretty rare and I don't want to see one go to waste, Thanks.

Hi Arron, while anything is possible, not sure the work involved would be practical. I have both regular sunroof and Cali tops on different cars and have pulled bothe the sunroof cassettes and the Cali soft tops off. The mounts as you can imagine are different as well as the obvious hole in the roof.

Prolly would be easier to cut, swap and reweld the roofs. Personally, I'd look for another 98 or 99 Cali myself rather than do the mod.

May want to get the top, motor and headliner tho off the wrecked car for when you do find a Cali if it is all in working order. The tops alone are good and valuable finds for a Cali owner.

Good luck!

Yep. What he said. Not really within reason.

You could pick up all those top parts for your buddies here on the forum. Wink-wink, nudge!

Ive disassembled the headliner and whole sunroof before when I was fixing my normal one so as far as the inside goes that wouldnt be difficult but I wasn't sure if there was a way to separate the exterior roof like if it was just a panel that bolts down... But thanks for letting me know about what I'd be getting into
