One of the two "half moon" shapes on the valve cover gasket wasn't seated properly. Lifted the cover by a mm or two and slipped back in, torqued, and we're all set. I'll make sure it runs ok tomorrow, but I let it idle for ~30 min and no more smoke was coming out from under the hood. I traced the oil and it dripped onto the exhaust headers, the X-Brace, and the control arm. I also sprayed all affected areas with carb cleaner but I'm not sure that helped anything. I also used my voltmeter to tap into the water/meth injection controllers and saw that it kicks in at around 9 psi. Man, my injector is just EATING through my washer fluid. I'll get the smaller one that you suggested. | | | 08-01-2009, 02:12 PM | #302 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | The minute you don't run enough Meth you will get 3 CEL flashes on the dash with a code of 0300 or 0301. That is your warning that there was a misfire and the DME took control. Give the smaller jet a try. I mix my own Meth you can buy it for like $2.35 a gallon. Glad you got the oil leak fixed. AAnother issue to look at. Were is your bypass valve hooked up for vacuum? If it is not hooked to the DASC manifold hook it there. When it is hooked to the TB and you go over 13psi there is vacuum there and it opens that valve robbing boost so put it on the boost port on the manifold so that valve get boost to keep it slamed shut. Good for 1-2psi boost....Little DASC secrete. Get rid of traction control it is a restriction for air flow to your 3" MAF... Maybe cause I'm not boosting quite as high (14 psi). What do you mean bypass valve? The one that comes with the DASC? That is plugged into the stock location-- I don't remember anything being hooked to the TB. I need ASC unfortunately. I drive through snow a lot in that car and I would likely be dead without ASC. I have an extra one which I'll send with my TB to get bored out at MaxBore. | | | 08-01-2009, 04:29 PM | #304 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Clutch slipped a lot today... EDIT: Actually... I had a two bad launches in a row and my third launch attempt slipped because the friction surface was too hot. It's acting fine now, a few hours later. Phew... glad it worked out because I'm running with an M5/M3 hybrid clutch system with a 11.5 lbs flywheel and that would be an expensive repair. Where can I even get new friction surface for a UUC 11.5 Stage 1 flywheel? The LSD probably helped as well as the snows. Was fine in 4" of fresh snow a couple times __________________ 1995 318TI base. 95 2.5L from 325IS. S50 cams+pistons, e36 M3 front brakes. My current ti, with Blizzaks, drove me from Boston to NJ in that 8" of snow storm that we had. I know it might give me a couple of hp, but it's not worth it to me. I'm already faster than stock M3's and that's good enough for me. In fact, my dad's modified M Roadster (around 280 hp, 0-60 is around .7 sec faster than an M3... around 4.8 sec) could only pull one car length on me when we fooled around today. | | | 08-03-2009, 05:14 PM | #307 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Took off wasegate last night. Holly cow what a pain to get it back together. I had to hold it with the 25psi spring with my 8 year old put in the screws. That was real joy. Daddy which way do I turn it, daddy my arms tired, daddy I can't see, daddy which way do I turn it, daddy this is boring. It was a total Birch for two adults to do let alone me and my kid. Now I got to go shoe horn it back on the exhaust. A/C suction line removed, turbo oil pump and oil cooler removed just to get to it. This spring change will be my last since I put the big boys in there | | | 08-03-2009, 05:48 PM | #308 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Oceanside, CA Posts: 421 | Quote: Originally Posted by xxxJohnBoyxxx Daddy which way do I turn it, daddy my arms tired, daddy I can't see, daddy which way do I turn it, daddy this is boring. | LOL!!! This reminded me of when I used to "help" my dad swith his car projects by "holding" the light for him... For some reason I was never lighting up what I was supposed to... ehehehe Did you got the ICV fixed? Let me know if not and I send you the spare one I have... __________________ 2003 Z4 2.5i 2002 Ducati Monster S4 Last edited by lpcapital; 08-03-2009 at 05:52 PM. | | | 08-03-2009, 05:56 PM | #309 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | Quote: Originally Posted by pnosker Man, my injector is just EATING through my washer fluid. Where can I even get new friction surface for a UUC 11.5 Stage 1 flywheel? | I think UUC flywheels are made by Fidanza. I'm not sure who actually does the machining for Fidanza. But you can also check with http://www.jbracing.com/. They are the machinist for the Rouge Engineering flywheels. The RE/JB flywheels are fully servicable. JB-racing takes a few days to get a flywheel back to you if they can resurface it. | | | 08-03-2009, 06:36 PM | #311 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Europe Posts: 136 | John did you make a small reservoir at the turbo drain so that the pump takes oil from that reservoir and not suct air? you see in this pic: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...8&d=1213296609 hope that you are registered in there, otherwise I'll upload that pict here, cause with my impaired English mixed with Italian it's hard to explain | | | 08-03-2009, 07:47 PM | #312 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by nuvolarossa John did you make a small reservoir at the turbo drain so that the pump takes oil from that reservoir and not suct air? you see in this pic: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...8&d=1213296609 hope that you are registered in there, otherwise I'll upload that pict here, cause with my impaired English mixed with Italian it's hard to explain | Nope, my turbo oil pump is a scavenger and self primer. does not cair if it's pumpin air or oil. Hook to the bottom of the turbo and just removes anything that comes out. Pulls it up 30" of hose runs it through a 12" oil cooler, then gravity back to the oi pan. Excellent pump | | | 08-03-2009, 07:52 PM | #313 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Well F'ed up the A/C compressor real good. Got wastegate in and putting back on the suction line on compressor. Felt tight, but no I had to go that little extra and so a little turn and it spins free. Dang nabbit. Unscrew the bolt and it's got half the aluminum threads from the compressor nicely in it's treads. No room to tap so I'm going to do some back-yard "jam in the bigger bolt" to fix it...The shame | | | 08-03-2009, 08:02 PM | #314 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | What about epoxy? Stick a little on the threads and jam it in. | | | 08-03-2009, 08:10 PM | #315 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by pnosker What about epoxy? Pat duelly noted I will epoxy the bigger bolt I jam in there | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
