Bazooka Tube Installed

This weekend, I bought a Bazooka CS amplified bass tube and installed it in the '98 ti. The install took quite a long time; like 5 hours. But I got it right and the sound quality is blowing me away. My wife and I boom around laughing out loud at the sound. Whee!

The CS series is somewhat new to Bazooka. Bazooka CS Series You can pick them up for about $250, but I found a ridiculous closeout deal on eBay and picked one up for $30; had to contact Bazooka to order wiring harness, etc. What a deal! No guarantee on the item so it was a gamble, but it paid off. I have $80 total in the new system...lucky me! Will there be other deals this good? I doubt it, but try your luck!

The CS series is 100 watts to the tube and 25 watts amplification to each of your other four channels. The wires run down the center, under the center console, then under the rear carpet and back seat. Had to run the power wire separately and sent it along the passenger doorsill area and through the firewall for a direct, fused connection to the battery.

The thing I really like about it is that it's inconspicuous and puts out great sound. Also no modifications necessary, unlike cutting 6x9's in your rear deck. Another nice thing is that it provides ample bass, as well as more juice to your existing speakers for a much fuller sound.

I have a 8" Bazooka in my ti and love it. They are nice for not taking up too much space and putting out a nice sound. I don't like overkill bass, just a good full sound. These powered tubes do just that.

I too have a 10 inch amplified bazooka tube, and I installed it in less that 2 hours. The installation was great. I, however, positioned the tube against the back seat and fabricated a holding device for it. The sound is amazing. I installed mine on rear speaker-level inputs. With a nice cd player and the great stock BMW mids and highs, I dont know who would want more out of a stereo.

Does the Bazooka CS series include the crossovers to restrict the low tones to the OEM speakers?

I'm not sure about that and I'm admittedly not much of an audiophile. BUT...to me the sound quality is great. And I hear no audible distortion in the stock speakers as if it's still pumping bass to them.

The only downside to this system is that there is still an absence of midtones that some 6x9's would counter. That may be my next improvement.

I was thinking the same thing ... I had an Infinity Basslink X installed a couple of weeks ago. Drastic improvement, but could get even better if the midtones were up to par ....

Is it possible to switch the 4" with something larger ?

bazooka give great sound I just wish they would do something about the mounting system and make at least one side flat...the dumb straps often come loose and you have to constantly readjust them.

Most cd players (newer aftermarket ones) have a subwoofer output plug in the back of them...that way you can adjust the tones of the regular speakers independent of the bass level. I have a bass tube, and I need the mounting strap. Anyone have a spare?

you can buy a strap at any camping store such as REI or EMS even a Sports Authourity for a few bucks.

As far as midrange, I swapped the kick panel speakers out for a set of Kenwood 6 1/2"s and that helped alot. The great part is that they fit right in with no cutting or anything. I could only get three screws in, but I have not had any problems with rattling and the total install took about an hour.

make sure you are careful not to drill through your floor, you dont want to cut anything.

I plan on using some "plumbers tape" with machine screws and washers for mine. That way it wont pin the carpet to the floor and you wont drill thru your fuel tank or wiring loom...

When I did a tube in my VW I got a 2x2 ft "handy panel" from home depot and carpeted that with felt and screwed the mounting hardware and amps to that.

Hi everybody, I am thinking of buying a bazooka tube off a friend and was wondering if anyone had pictures of theirs as the picture in this post are not showing up anymore. I am also a little confused about how to mount it and connect it to the existing stock stereo. If anyone has any information about this please let me know.
