Default Gas in my oil?

hey everyone. Yesterday i changed my oil, and while I was letting it drain there was a strong smell of gas. One suggestion from a friend was maybe my fuel pump is going bad or i need to change my fuel filter. I thought I would post on here see if anyone else has had this happen before or just has an idea of what it could be.

thanks.

Are all of your cylinders firing?

If they weren't, the car would run pretty bad.

If a lot of gas were getting into your crankcase, the oil level would rise.

Has this been the case?

When you drained the oil, did it seem really thin?

yea all cylinders are firing the car runs great. the oil wasn't thin when i drained
it either and the oil level was right where it should be before and after the oil change.

Are there any DIY threads for replacing the fuel filter or fuel pump?

I just want to look into it more to see if that is the case so i can fix it before anything gets out of hand

I think I read your thread wrong.

Maybe you were not saying you thought there was gas in the oil - just a general smell of gas in the area?

In that case you will have to follow your nose to see if there is a leak somewhere.
