I think even 18s are pushing it. Get some nice 235x40x17s and use the rest of your money to buy some sense. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 05-05-2010, 03:43 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: omaha Posts: 61 | really ?? 18's are the max ?? how would one go about lifting a car to accommodate for larger rims ? | | | 05-05-2010, 03:45 AM | #4 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | 18" wheels are not "the max" that can be installed on the 318ti. The point is that larger (and therefore usually heavier) wheels do alter the handling characteristics of the car, usually in a negative way depending on your perspective. This is a common question, perhaps you'd find some answers if you searched a little? __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! You wanna go all out? Do what THAT318 just said, splurge on some 17" BBS wheels - they'll look a million times better than any chrome 20's you can find. If you must go large, 18" or forget it. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 05-05-2010, 02:11 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | IF youre going big, go 19s, youll still keep a little rubber on the rims. Plan on running some skinny or extra low profile tires, that will cost a lot. Youll be looking at something like a 235/30/19 on all fours. If you want to lift it, run base model springs and/or run thicker spring pads. I dont like what youre doing, but its your car and your money. Have fun with it. Instead of going big, go wide __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 05-05-2010, 03:00 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Minneapolis, MN Posts: 307 | aghhh.... | | | 05-05-2010, 07:02 PM | #14 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by Philly There is nothing cool about that blue Ti, sorry to offend the owner but thats barftacular. | That's Lazoh's car. The picture is almost 10 years old. He bought it new back in '99. You gotta remember that back then the Dub scene was pretty popular, especially in SoCal The car has been through many changes over the years, looks completely different now: Last edited by cooljess76; 05-05-2010 at 07:05 PM. | | | 05-05-2010, 07:59 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Tulsa, OK Posts: 252 | i've got 18's (45 offset)with 225/40r18 and my left front tire just ever so slightly rubs on the bottom of my lower strut sping mount about 1 mm of contact, well at least for the first 20 miles anyway (nothing hazardess by any means) i've seen a ti with 19's but it had rolled fenders as well due to clearence issues __________________ 1996 318ti base: m44, 5 spd, lsd - 18x8 bremmer kraft wheels w/sumitumo tires 225/40R18 & bmw locking lug studs, 10mm spacers in rear, halo headlights, cold air intake, koni str.t struts and shocks w/mounts, h&r sport springs, serp belts, control arm & tie rod kits, front sway bar links, JVC kd-x50bt headunit w/ipod hook up in the glove box, alpine sps-500(front and rear), jl audio 10" powerwedge max, jl audio 250.1 amp, motor mounts, fuel filter, passenger side window motor, drivers lower window run, muffler hanger kit, various interior bulbs, left door striker/ajar switch, lower hood latches, changed from gray vinal to black leather shift and parking brake boots, m3 weighted shift knob, ngk-r spark plugs, magnecor spark plug wires(blue),new cabin micro-filters,new headliner & a-pillar mouldings, 5w20 synth-blend oil and filter, BG Ultra Guard syn. rear end fluid & ls additive, BG Syncro Shift II syn. manual trans fluids, stainless steel braided brake lines and dot 4 fluid, extra brake light mod, new p/s reservoir and rubber hoses need to do - fix door panels, paint job, MORE MONEY!! | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
