Default largest rim i can fit with no hassle ? for 97

97 318ti ..looing for largest rim size i can fit on it ... would like to keep a decent amount of tire on the road too ..dont wanna curb them out .. but be mainly for cruising slow through town .. what do i have to look for as far as offset ?? front different than back ? also if the rim size gets bigger does the offset change?

largest possible with maybe 45 or 35's ..nothing real fancy just chrome at least ..or something that can be painted black and look good if its not chrome

id like some 20's (i know i dont like the sound of aying that either)

budget of 1500 if possible

Not as much as I like reading it.

I think even 18s are pushing it.
Get some nice 235x40x17s and use the rest of your money to buy some sense.

18" wheels are not "the max" that can be installed on the 318ti. The point is that larger (and therefore usually heavier) wheels do alter the handling characteristics of the car, usually in a negative way depending on your perspective.

This is a common question, perhaps you'd find some answers if you searched a little?

There is nothing cool about that blue Ti, sorry to offend the owner but thats barftacular.

You wanna go all out? Do what THAT318 just said, splurge on some 17" BBS wheels - they'll look a million times better than any chrome 20's you can find. If you must go large, 18" or forget it.

IF youre going big, go 19s, youll still keep a little rubber on the rims. Plan on running some skinny or extra low profile tires, that will cost a lot. Youll be looking at something like a 235/30/19 on all fours. If you want to lift it, run base model springs and/or run thicker spring pads.

I dont like what youre doing, but its your car and your money. Have fun with it. Instead of going big, go wide

That's Lazoh's car. The picture is almost 10 years old. He bought it new back in '99. You gotta remember that back then the Dub scene was pretty popular, especially in SoCal The car has been through many changes over the years, looks completely different now:

i've got 18's (45 offset)with 225/40r18 and my left front tire just ever so slightly rubs on the bottom of my lower strut sping mount about 1 mm of contact, well at least for the first 20 miles anyway (nothing hazardess by any means) i've seen a ti with 19's but it had rolled fenders as well due to clearence issues
