I don't have one, but from everything else the people on here have posted it is 7-8PSI. I think the r-speed check vavle bumps it up to 9.. And there is one person on here running 10psi with a smaller pulley and piggy back ecu to adjust for the extra air flow...

At less than 10PSI you probably don't need to do anything to the internals of a healthy engine.. I think the m42 with forged internals could probably handle well over 10PSI, but I have no way to prove that just yet.

Default DASC boost

I'm running 7-8PSI, no R-speed check valve and with the standard DASC pulley. Mine has the M42 engine.

Yeah thats what I thought it would be. I'm pushin 7lbs with stock internals. It was recomended to me not to push more without opening the head, but the again its not really worth it with our engines right?

Hard- The m42 has some forged internals. If you check on the dtmpower.net forums the user cardcounter is running a turbo m52 at 26PSI.

I've read some information on bimmerforums that says the m42 is very similiar in design to the m50 and m52, just minus two cylinders. At 26psi that guy is expecting his engine to die soon, but it hasn't happened yet, and he has apparently been running boost on it for awhile now. 100k+ miles on that m52.

Those are the main items that make me think a m42 would handle in excess of 10PSI with the proper tuning. Hopefully the work that SEAM is doing will confirm it.

I think the preoblem is the temperature, i think in a turbo system is more easy and simple to have a better intake temperature because you have a intercooler but i think that in supercharger system not is the same. Also the power of supercharger system is in low rpm and believe, with 10psi is a lot of power i run at 7.5 and is super, you dont need more than 10.

Heat is a big part of the problem, since enough heat will cause pre-detonation. But the total pressure in the combustion chamber is also inportant, expecially when dealing with cast internals.
There is a point where the internals will break before compressing teh air/fuel mixture completely.
As for the heat, many people deal with that with some form of water/alcohol injection. It lowers the temperature in the combustion chamber and slightly increases the compression ratio, making more power for longer periods of time.

And for not needing more than 10psi, there's no such thing as too much boost

I thought IAAS had the parts and basic instructions for a DASC intercooler? Then there is the snowtech water/alchohol injector.

If you look back through the SEAM thread I think it is said somewhere in there that the stage 2 kit might include an intercoolor.

I had my charger rebuilt earlier this year. I have superchargertech.com do the work. It was about $500 for the rebuild and oil change.

I saw many times on ebay some rebuild kit for m62 eaton chargers, you only need the bearings the nose seal and other minor hardware, i write "eaton m62" in the search on ebay, in my kit i think that i can change it without remove the blower from the manifold...
