Default M42 is very sluggish and hesistant with its power

im having some problems figuring out my cars lack of power.

it takes a while to get the car to rev up to any rpm, and under load it is even worse. car will still drive but in 5th gear im not going over 55 without downshifting to 4th.

i recently bought it and it has 210,000 miles and the cat was clogged really bad

so far i have bypassed the cat
checked the plugs, all are good,
plug wires seem to be in good shape, no rips or bare wire showing.

my thoughts are possibly o2 sensor is shot for the cat being clogged for who knows how long (not sure of the history of the car but its a little rough all around)

any other ideas would be great!

thanks in advance.

Is it auto? Might be that stupid little switch by the gearshift that has no purpose other than to piss you off.
