I have the MTech front bumper and I assumed that it would mount between the two under bumper end pieces like in an M3. I cannot see any mounting points on the car that correspond to the two drilled holes on either end of the air duct. A picture of the piece installed or a good description of the mounting would be appreciated. Thanks | | | 07-03-2006, 12:12 AM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | I need to find a piece that goes under there too. I ripped up some M-Tech bumper stuff in deep snow, and recovered a broken piece. I bought a new one, but I could not figure out how it attaches, so I figure I lost something else. Here's my post (one post down) that I put on the E36 M3 boards on bf.c.... Can you figure it out?? | | | 07-03-2006, 12:15 AM | #20 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | This winter I ripped off/broke a piece of shrouding from my front end (M3 bumper). It was a lower radiator shrouding. Part #17112227690 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...93&hg=17&fg=05. Part #14 I just got a new one and tried to install it but could not figure it out. I think I'm missing another piece. From these pictures can you guys tell if I'm missing part #51712250643. It part number #14 in this diagram. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...48&hg=51&fg=75 -- -- -- -- -- There are obviously some slots that are sitting open. If that's it, I guess I ripped that off too but never saw it sitting on the ground Thanks!!! | | | 07-04-2006, 06:21 PM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: San Francisco Posts: 308 | search me. i've wondered a long time wtf is supposed to be there. it could be these things; Air Duct Panel Cover (only used with 51-71-2-250-643-M9 Air Duct Panel), E36 M3 B30/B32 & Air Duct Panel, Front Lower for Radiator, E36 M3 B30/B32 http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/cata...pg7.htm#item38 but it doesn't seem worth it to me. if you get them, post how it looks. __________________ '99 ti /Mtechnic, Schwartz II, Meyle Control Arms w/Full Metal Ball Joints, PowerFlex poly LCAB's, Pirelli P Zero/Nero 225/50/16, "the d-baffle"...... | | | 07-04-2006, 08:56 PM | #22 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | Quote: Originally Posted by DeadpaN search me. i've wondered a long time wtf is supposed to be there. it could be these things; Air Duct Panel Cover (only used with 51-71-2-250-643-M9 Air Duct Panel) http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/cata...pg7.htm#item38 but it doesn't seem worth it to me. if you get them, post how it looks. | ^ Thats the part I bought, and it defintiely wont fit without some other part. And I'm pretty sure that other part is 51-71-2-250-643-M9 for $86.50 Hmmm, I've searched realoem a bunch and thats the only part I've figured it is. What I need to do is find an E36 M3 in a parking lot or dealer and look at it in person. Hopefully the owner won't catch me on my hands and knee in front of their car | | | 07-04-2006, 09:46 PM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: San Francisco Posts: 308 | i've also wondered about the fender/wheel transitions too, the notched pieces in your pic that look like something is supposed to attach to in the middle, because there are "M bumper" pieces for there which are also different from what we have. bavauto has a good example of both in their aerodynamics or exterior parts section..... __________________ '99 ti /Mtechnic, Schwartz II, Meyle Control Arms w/Full Metal Ball Joints, PowerFlex poly LCAB's, Pirelli P Zero/Nero 225/50/16, "the d-baffle"...... | | | 07-05-2006, 06:59 AM | #24 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Quote: Originally Posted by CirrusSR22 This winter I ripped off/broke a piece of shrouding from my front end (M3 bumper). Part #15 in your second link is the lowest piece of plastic on your car, and it appears to be in place in your pictures. Not sure how you could have ripped off something above that, without taking out anything below. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 08-03-2006, 02:41 AM | #25 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Michigan, United States Posts: 16 | Quote: Originally Posted by DeadpaN | This part on my car fell off a while ago also, and it seems to have broken the 2 other pieces that hold it on. It can't be too important anyways | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
