Default M50 swap started today with pics

Well after a 3 week wait the swap finally began this morning! Pulled the front of the car off, pulled the M44, swaped the tranny to the M50 and dropped it in. Just needs plumbing in. Should be running tomorrw. Not bad for a days work. Heres a couple pics till i set a new web album up. Enjoy!

Well after a bit more work today i finally got it running! It sounds awsome! Just need to sort the exhaust out and put the front end back on. I came across one problem, The gearbox sits about an inch further back so i had to use the elongated holes on the gearbox support. Threrefore I had to use the shorter linkage from the 325. The linkage with the ball joint from the shifter fits perfectly but the other linkage from the 325 hits the vibration damper on the drive shaft. I tried to use the origonal one from the ti but it's too long. I presume i need to have this shortened by about an inch. Is this correct?

I pulled my vibration balancer off the driveshaft.

Why does anyone have distance issues when installing their 6cyl.s? When doing mine and dustins swaps, never had one issue with lengths.

Did you keep the ti tranny or use the one from a 325?

Ive sorted it. I just had to bend the 325 linkage slightly. To get 2nd and 4th gears the stick has to be pulled back quite far if you know what i mean. In 2nd and 4th the stick is nearly touching the centre console. I'll sort this eventually. Got the front end back on and the rad in place. Just waiting for rad hoses, then headlights back in and bumper on and its all sorted apart from the exhaust. Does anyone use the rear hangers that are on the 6 cyl midpipe? They seem to be in line with the support that follows the transmission tunnel at the rear just before it stops. Can these be used?

Heres a litte sound clip for you----

I used the ti tranny but the 325 linkage as the tranny sits further back and the ti linkage was too long. My ti tranny and 325 tranny were the same unit. (s5d250G) mine had less miles on so i used that.
