Default Broken Transmission Cross-member

I have a heavy modified 1997 318is M44 5-speed. I snapped a u-joint on the tail-shaft Saturday and replace the staft with a Beyer driveline. I now noticed the aluminum transmission cross member is snapped on the passenger side. No broken mounts on tranny or motor. Any ideas what would cause this?

I think the shop broke it when lifting the car....

What transmission mounts do you have? I don't see anything short of solid mounts actually breaking the cross-member.

I would say the amount of power you are generating and launching probably caused it. BMW race cars usually replace that mount with an upgraded aftermarket version.

It says it is for an M3, but they have these little plates that allow it to fit on a non m-3.

Taking it to the welder today. I'm having him fix and add strength. When I removed it I found it weight less then a pound and very thin. It is weak at best
