Picked up my first Bimmer about 6 weeks ago. I found this site browsing the 'net and thought it was a pretty cool resource... I've been lurking around since then and thought I should introduce myself. I was looking for a new daily driver, something reliable - but not boring. I came across this '96 Boston Green TI Active on craigslist for a price I didn't want to pass up (after checking it out). One owner with 108k on the clock and *every* last maintenance record. That was the deal-maker. This car is a real joy to drive, definitely not a racer, but very tight/solid/smooth. Those Germans know what they're doing. Only "mod" so far is a weighted M-knob (the stocker kept popping off during 1>2 shifts). The weighted M-knob is about 1/2" shorter and a tad heavier, giving it a slight short shifter feel. I would recommend it. It has a charcoal/black cloth interior, which I was *told* was custom ordered for this year/color and wouldn't be seen regularly(?) - heard it should have been tan, and the brochure I have also denotes this. Anyone? Anyhow, I snapped some quick pics today after giving her a bath. She'll be sharing the garage with my other toy, a fully worked '93 Twin Turbo Z32. If anyones interested in pics of either vehicle, I'd be more than happy to post some up - I just hit the 6 picture limit (bummer) and didn't want to piggyback more off of my own post (not sure if you guys have rules about that over here?) =) Regardless, thanks for reading - if there are any more Milwaukee-area TI'ers, say hi! | | | 08-18-2007, 05:45 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Memphis, Tn Posts: 1,299 | The car looks to be in great shape. congrats! and welcome to the site. What bolt pattern do the wheels on the Z have? If they're 5x120 and have a centerbore of 72.56mm or larger, you should swap them and take some more pics. Green and gold look awesome together. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 08-18-2007, 08:55 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Milwaukee, WI Posts: 10 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 Both cars look great, congrats. The wheels are 5X114.3, so they won't jive - but they're also 18X9/18X10 so I'm not sure if they'd fit in there anyhow. | | | 08-19-2007, 01:05 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: The Netherlands Posts: 33 | Quote: Originally Posted by whitepearlz It has a charcoal/black cloth interior, which I was *told* was custom ordered for this year/color and wouldn't be seen regularly(?) - heard it should have been tan, and the brochure I have also denotes this. | I have a '96 Ti aswell (black metallic), with the exact same rims i might add, and it has the exact same interior. Never heard if it being that rare though... | | | 08-19-2007, 01:58 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Boston, MA Posts: 1,152 | Welcome to the ti forum! I've installed a lot of the j-spec goodies, though - tried to keep it stock-looking on the exterior, though (minus the wheels, of course). Just under 460rwhp as it sits, but I have some plans for a bit more when time and money allow for it. | | | 08-22-2007, 12:49 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: chicago Posts: 172 | damn nice zet ex | | | 08-23-2007, 03:54 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | hey dude nice cars!!! any plans for the ti? __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 08-23-2007, 04:31 AM | #15 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Milwaukee, WI Posts: 10 | Quote: Originally Posted by kickass95318ti hey dude nice cars!!! any plans for the ti? | No plans as of now, just the usual maintenance items as they come up. I'll probably get some M wheels down the road (DS1/2, Contour or LTW) - and perhaps a CD changer for the trunk. I'm just using it for my DD and prefer to keep it low-profile as it will be parked outside when I move to the twin cities next month.
