hi there. Stock amp? as in can you replace it with an aftermarket unit? this answer is a def. no. I'm assuming you have the so-called 10 speaker system.
I won't go into a huge reason why but basically the amp, located in the rear driver side trunk area, is an amp with a built-in crossovers which splits the signal to the 10 speakers independently. No amp does that.
I've been debating on upgrading the system but its a major undertaking.
replace head unit
replace all speakers
replace amp

You can read my recent post on a custom built Ti Subwoofer which will greatly enhance the sound. if you looking for an ipod option there is none.

If you have any other questions let me know.

There was a wiring harness set up in the trunk of my old ti (also a '95, but without the premium sound system) but the previous owner had BMW replace the stock head unit and cd changer with a pioneer unit, so they may have removed it. Look behind the grey carpet on the drivers side in the trunk area. That's where the stock wires were.

He said he has a 95, so I'm not sure (could be wrong) if he has the 10 speaker setup, I'm not even sure if it was available in that year (all 95's I've seen have the 6 speaker set up). I don't know what your question was posted for, azs318ti, but if it's to change out the head unit... you shouldn't have to mess with amps etc... you would only need to get an appropriate wiring harness. However, if you're planning on speaker upgrades, just like ScnStlr said, it will probably be a huge job in replacing amps and speakers (meaning expensive). Disclaimer: It's late here, hope this makes sense.

According to BMW, in 1995 the Premium audio system was available as an option on the 318ti. Option #676, cost $500.
