Unfortunately the insurance company is not going to pay out any amount that is reasonable because of the age of the vehicle. I have not settled yet with them but they gave me a heads up. My Ti is a 97 with the 6 speed conversion. This conversion is valued at around $3000 with a used transmission. Forget about trying to do one with a new one. I am strongly considering selling the car as a whole just to recuperate my losses. The vehicle is worth more than what the insurance company wants to pay me for it. So if any one is interested just for the 6 speed transmission alone it is well worth a great deal. I have the original 5 speed and the original drive shaft. the car is repairable but it is estimated to be over $6,000 to repair. Send me a PM if your interested in the vehicle. I just did a complete brake job and it has cadmium plated cross drilled, slotted rotors with ceramic brake pads. I have extra spare parts for the car that are sitting around and some tooling as well. I am in Florida near Ft.Lauderdale. Email t5vespa@hotmail.com Thanks.. | | | 08-26-2013, 09:11 PM | #2 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2013 Location: Conway SC Posts: 13 | can you send pics of the car? | | | 08-26-2013, 09:59 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Globally Posts: 1,162 | If you look at his other started thread there is a photo in the other thread of the front end. | | | 08-27-2013, 02:55 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2013 Location: Conway SC Posts: 13 | let me know your asking price, I am in SC and am between jobs so a trip that way is not out of the question for me right now. | | | 08-27-2013, 06:19 PM | #5 | Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: usa Posts: 80 | I just got off the phone with the Insurance company. After haggling a bit they offered to pay me $2,340 for my vehicle. After doing some research on other vehicles I found this to be a fair offer from the insurance company. If any one wants to offer me more for the vehicle let me know. The vehicle is best for parts since the damage is in excess of $6,000. I have not accepted their offer yet since the paperwork has not been done yet. Should be soon though. I have other parts sitting around which I will be posting on the forum when I sort it all out. | | | 08-27-2013, 06:38 PM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2013 Location: Conway SC Posts: 13 | sounds more than fair for the car, but more than I can offer at this time as well. thank you for your time and the opportunity to purchase. | | | 08-27-2013, 06:51 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: usa Posts: 80 | Quote: Originally Posted by Daryl DeMoor sounds more than fair for the car, but more than I can offer at this time as well. thank you for your time and the opportunity to purchase. | Your welcome. The fuel pump I can pull out for you. I Replaced the Fuel Pump and Fuel Pump Relay 2-11-11 with 292,523 miles on the odometer. I need to remove the fuel pump to remove the almost full tank of fuel anyway. I will let you know when I accomplish the removal. I have to wait for the paperwork from the insurance company so I can get a better time frame. I can not remove the DME because my hood is buckled and it needs to be pried open with a great amount of force. I tried twice already to no avail. | | | 08-27-2013, 09:52 PM | #10 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2013 Location: Conway SC Posts: 13 | just let me know what you want for the pump w/shipping, and when you get a chance to get it out we can arrange details. I do have paypal so that's not a problem here, unless you prefer another method. just let me know when you have time. | | | 08-28-2013, 12:34 AM | #11 | Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: So Cal Posts: 36 | Hopefully not off topic Sorry for your loss - seriously. I've obtained an E46 M3 6spd to put in my car; if this is what you have may I ask what driveshaft combination you used? I don't imagine you'd sell that without the trans. thanks for your time | | | 08-28-2013, 01:30 AM | #12 | Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: usa Posts: 80 | Quote: Originally Posted by fastworker Sorry for your loss - seriously. Also a different shift linkage has to be used because of the different size transmission from the five to the six speed. | | | 08-30-2013, 04:01 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2013 Location: Grove City, PA Posts: 113 | Can you inbox me please? Thanks for your time in advance. which transmission and drive shaft did you go with for the 6th gear luxury? We're there any critical issues during or after the swap? I guess it would suffice to know which motor your Ti has or had. Thank you | | | 08-30-2013, 04:46 PM | #14 | Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: usa Posts: 80 | Quote: Originally Posted by Lbcnu24 Can you inbox me please? Shift linkage was also replaced with a different one. All part of the retro kit I purchased from BimmerWorld back in 2003. http://www.bimmerworld.com/ No major issues. Had to lengthen the Reverse switch harness. | | | 09-01-2013, 03:33 PM | #15 | Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: usa Posts: 80 | Update: I am almost finished removing parts that are worth salvaging for resale. I have not finished up with the insurance company yet but next week I will get the paperwork in to them. I will inventory all parts with p/n's and post them here. Some parts are not worth my time to remove because of labor intense. Large parts are not worth it because shipping boxes have to be custom made and cost. Please be patient, I know we can all use spare parts. I am only posting here because we all have the same interest. Thanks guys. 1997 318ti Montreal blue with 335,690 miles. RIP.
