Reworked head is only ~$1200.00, so $1700 for an engine with a new head seems reasonable to me. | | | 03-10-2006, 11:29 PM | #3 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Sounds like a good deal as long as the rest of the engine functions good. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 03-10-2006, 11:36 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Malden, MA Posts: 672 | But then there are all the hidden costs of the engine swap. For a not so powerful engine, do the ends justify the means? __________________ "Power Rules, Smooth is Fast, Late Brake if you HAVE TO, But Always get the Inside Line.......and Fear No One." | | | 03-11-2006, 12:28 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | I think I'd pass on that one. | | | 03-11-2006, 01:20 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: MD/VA/DC Posts: 834 | dont buy it if you havent seen the motor or test for leaks | | | 03-11-2006, 02:18 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | I don't think I would go for that motor. I don't think that the power increase would be that good. | | | 03-16-2006, 03:37 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Amboy, NJ Posts: 333 | I got my M52 & tranny swap done a few weeks ago and I really think you should consider that instead of the M50. I got my whole swap done for 4k including labor and the engine/tranny/E30 diff + it only had 80k miles minus the diff. Just something for you to think about. The shop that did my swap is MotorSport Recycling in Central NJ if your interested. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
