Default Wet CAI

I have the Bav Auto CAI and it's located right above the foglights, I have a problem of it getting soaked when it rains and it gets filthy down there.I think the problem with that is that I don't have a splash pannel under the car right now.My main question is can it hurt my moter with the filter getting wet?Im getting a bad idle and it eats gas could buying a new one solve my problem?

Thanks in Advance

Yes, a wet filter is bad, and a dirty filter is worse. Take it off if it's in a bad spot. The 1 hp you are gaining isn't worth it.

Unique design and shielded location eliminate any water ingestion concerns.
Large-area air filter is washable, reusable and guaranteed for 1 million miles.

That's what it says from bavautos website, it may be the splash pannel but I do have water ingestion problems. What type of dammage can water ingestion do?Hydro lock?

Hydro lock would be the big one to worry about. Besides that, you'll dirty up everything in your intake tract

I would guess I have more power out of the stock airbox than a dirty/wet racing filter.

Default wet/dirty = bad

CAI's are notorious for hydro lock. if it hangs low and comes up different then how you started, it's bad (minds outta the gutter fellas). if you go for the CAI route, make sure you have that filter protected. Ram Air intakes are easier to deal with, since it sits in the same spot as the normal air box (just "less resistance").

Dirty filters will def fill your chambers with excess debris, cutting into fuel efficiency, and a wet filter will mean you're diluting the combo with water. in any case, both = bad.
