Is there anyway to downgrade the OBD2 to obd1 ? a few of my friends are running s52 obd1's in there e36's and have a easier of a time to tune the damn thing.. Yes my car will have something in store if I do the swap. Please any advice? __________________ V2 in progress. If your running turbo or SC then I suggest you keep the M44 OBD2 and get a flash tune. The M44 OBD2 MAF based DME can handle boost better then the AFM based m42 OBD1 DME. If you are planing on tuning the car yourself and keep it NA you will have a easier time with OBD1 for sure. cheers | | | 01-17-2012, 10:38 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Orange County, CA Posts: 2,019 | Quote: Originally Posted by bmwconnect What are the plans for the M44? OBD2 swap boost seem to be a lot more work then the OBD1 with a war chip. __________________ V2 in progress. Miller does not offer a solution for the OBD1 M42 318 motor for this reason. I was the first person to boost the E36 OBD1 M42 using the stock management, so I know very well the differences and complications in motronic versions. If you stick with OBD2 flash you will have 0-12psi and over boost protection on stock internals cheers Last edited by bmwconnect; 01-17-2012 at 10:53 PM. | | | 01-17-2012, 11:35 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Orange County, CA Posts: 2,019 | Quote: Originally Posted by bmwconnect The OBD1 DME used by the M50NV is very different from the OBD1 M42 M1.7.2 DME.
