Default Will the rear suspension from any E36 fit on the Compact?

Hi,

My rear suspension is leaking, don't want to buy new one because I'm getting a new BM car soon...

So will the rear suspension from any E36 fit on the Compact?

Anyone?

Thanks

SK

No, the 318ti rear suspension is similar to the E30 and therefore unlike all other E36's.

So I guess it has to be new then...

Thanks for your quick reply anyway.

How is the rear suspention leaking? That does not make sense, do you mean the differential? All that is is new seals... Not that big of a deal.

I'm guessing he means the shocks are leaking fluid

In that case he needs just shocks not a whole new suspension....

Hate to see someone make things too hard.

Yes, sorry about the confusion... it should be shocks, instead of the whole suspension...

If its a cost issue, I've had good luck with KYB, and the shocks on the rear are not that important on the TI the suspention design produces a lot of dampening on its own and the rear springs are a fairly high rate compared to many cars in this weight class.

Just a opinion..

The rear of the 318ti is already independent, just a less sophisticated version than other E36 cars. I don't think BMW has used a solid rear axle since the early 1960s or late 1950s.

You cannot swap in an E36 M3 rear suspenison. The two rear suspension set-ups are massively different.
