Default Blackout Grill

After sanding, priming and then spraying about 6 coats of semi gloss jet black paint on my grill I got this.

I decided to use a glossy finish spray instead of flat on the grill to match the car’s body paint. I also sprayed the inner pieces of the grill as well.

Let me know what you guys think.

looks great, painting is the much better option IMO. I don't really like the gloss look though. When I painted mine, I used chalkboard paint, giving the grilles a more matte look.

Regardless, good job.

I think it might look cool on a red or white car, but I'm not too fond of it on a black one.

i vote that everyone should do it. I think the chrome lines look terrible, and a black grille will improve any and every BMW

IMO I love the black inserts but hate the black kidney on a black car. I just love the look of a contrasting grille, just seeing it in the rear view mirror coming up on you at 100 mph. The only thing I am going to be leaving not black, is the kidney outline. Even gonna get a black license frame that covers most legal limit of my plate eventually. Even black backed headlights and corners. I even have the replacement front impact strip that says BMW so I can switch it over when I go to AZ.

Nice paint job though.

Those look great. I like the gloss look alot. I hate the chrome grills on BMWs, +1 for everyone getting blackout grills or just matte silver.

First time I did it the paint chipped like crazy. This time I sanded it down, used self-etching primer and a few coats of DupliColor flat black wheel paint. Holds up great and looks even better!

Heat it up with a blow dryer, use goo gone and use tooth floss. Be careful not to swirl the paint when you wipe it all off.
