I own a very unusual Ti for all you US folks, it's a '99 316ti M-tech with sport interior, M-tech suspension, M-tech wheel and shifter, also with CD34 heated seets cruise control OBC and 16" RADIAL STYLING (STYL.32) alloys. The engine is M43TU 1.9 77kw/105 bhp but with the max torq at only 2500 rpm same engine as 316 e46 sedan sold only in Europe

So install it. What's a matter, don't have 8 hours of torture to set aside?

Default I think I have an "Active" model

I'm an "old" guy in Southern California with an Alpine white '96 ti. The car is pretty much bone-stock, except for a K&N air filter.
The equipment listed on the window sticker (I have all of the original dealer paperwork and owner's manual) is: AM/FM /cassette with Alpine 6-CD changer, power windows/locks/mirrors, OBC, anti-lock brakes, sunroof, cruise control, 5-speed, A/C, cloth seats, and alarm system.
I'm guessing it's an "Active" model, based on the other comments I've seen here about what each model comes equipped with.
I am the 3rd owner, and bought it with 58,000 miles on it 5 years ago.
It now has only 125,000 miles on it and and I have NEVER had to repair ANYTHING mechanical under the hood, except normal maintenance items, such as fluids, spark plugs, brakes, belts, and tires.
Oh, I did have to replace the battery two years ago, and I just put new tires and brakes on it. Window switches seem to be common failure items.
That said, I noticed that the interior trim started sagging (headliner, pillar covers, etc.) so I replaced those with OEM items.
I plan to drive this car until they won't let me drive any more.

Do you have a slats in the front bumper and a black rear valence?
15" or 16" wheels? Steel or Alloy? 5 spoke or 10?
Cruise control?
Sport seats?
///M on the side molding?

If you have the On Board Computer, most likely it's an Active.
Since it's hard to break steel wheels, my guess is those where the 10 spoke alloys.

That's the OBC. Sounds like the temp sensor is missing.
