Mine only locks if I turn the steering wheel with the key out of the ignition. Are you turning the wheel after you pull the key out?

lol... if that was what was going on there wouldn't be a problem! No, it's after staring the engine with the key in the "on" position. I have to wiggle the wheel back and forth until it releases before I can steer...

Grr its an irritating issue to fix. You have to take the steering column off directly behind the steering wheel and its a little off-white plastic piece. You have to break it LOL or cut it off. (i suggest cutting it hehe). Let me know if that helps. If not ill try to find pics of it. Or something.

Punishment for the air bags? You offended the german god of automobiles....

Totally joking,, I think some lube in the column in the pin that locks the wheel would help ya out...

The pin engages a slot/Hole/notch whatever, I've had several cars that the pin and slot got dirty from age, a little PB blaster with a thin tube in the pin mechanism, ( You just about have to pull the steering wheel.) You can get the fluid to run in to the mechanism.

I washed mine out with electraclean then used a pair of the red tube things taped together to dribble lube into the lock unit along the housing.

Mine locked for good once and I just followed this procedure. It's common with racers apparently since some racing rules require a steering column that can't lock. It'll never lock on you again if you do this, so they say.
