Hey everybody, now that I'm just about a week from finishing up school and can actually get back to making some $$$$ I'm looking at doing some slight upgrades for my ti. First of, at this point I don't really have the money for true performance upgrades so I'm hoping to make the car a bit more aesthetically pleasing. So heres what I'm thinking: she needs to get dropped, probably just gonna do springs now, shocks are first on the wish list. Id really like to get some M3 mirrors for her so thats second on my list. Finally I want to install a spoiler or some sort, something that stands out but isn't obnoxious. Would love to hear your feedback and suggestions. Thanks. __________________ 1999 BMW 318ti 2005 MINI Cooper S | | | 04-26-2012, 02:02 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | When replacing springs you need to consider the shocks/struts. Since the same labor is involved, I'd suggest doing them together when you can. Rear spoiler and lower lip adds a lot to the car. Have you ever used M3 mirrors? They took me awhile to get used to since your view is reduced. My driver's side mirror has a left side euro mirror so it's a wide angle. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 04-26-2012, 02:12 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: Ft Defiance, AZ Posts: 686 | I know you're supposed to change the springs and shocks together, but the PO of my car just replaced them with OEM parts less than 5k miles ago so I figured I might be able to get away with just springs for the summer. I completely agree with the lower lip and rear spoiler adding to the car, and as for the M3 mirrors I drove a friends '97 M3 a few weeks ago and i didn't really notice anything but then again I don't really use the side mirrors as much as I should __________________ 1999 BMW 318ti 2005 MINI Cooper S | | | 04-26-2012, 02:57 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: KCK, USA Posts: 29 | Black kidney grills, if you don't already have them. __________________ Alpine White, Sound System: Jl 500/1 Monoblock amp, Alpine Type R 12" sub, JVC El Kameleon Dvd/Cd player, Alpine Type R 5.25" Coaxial rear speakers, Exhaust: Remus Sport, Wheels: 18" MSW 5 double spoke black/mach, Lights: 4000k Halos Angel Eye 8000k HIDS Silverstar Ultra high beams, Clear tail, corner and side markers OEM BMW, Floor Mats: AC Schnitzer, Interior: Blue LEDS in all stock locations, Bavauto ignition wires, Suspension: Tokico Blue HP with Bavauto lowering springs, Exterior: M replica bumper and OEM M3 mirrors | | | 04-26-2012, 03:01 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Denver, Colorado Posts: 3,212 | I personal like the ACS 3 piece replica spoiler. It's subtle but gives the ti a sporty look at the same time. | | | 04-26-2012, 04:44 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | Front lip, no rear spoiler, shorty factory antenna, OE clear lights, OE 17s from an E36 M3 or E46 sport package. At least that's my plan for my project club sport. __________________ SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE! They look a lot like M Contours so you may consider that route. __________________ SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE! I get most of my stuff from BavAuto since my dad has been a member for about 30 years now and gets discounts on a lot of stuff, but even then a lot of their stuff is a little pricey. I'll probably end up bumming around my chapter events seeing if anybody wants to get rid of one or had another laying around __________________ 1999 BMW 318ti 2005 MINI Cooper S | | | 04-26-2012, 06:55 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | Quote: Originally Posted by teen ti Props for honestys sake, thats usually the big killer for me, I live in the middle of nowhere so getting legit parts is a huge PITA. I can certainly beat BavAuto pricing. __________________ SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE!
