Default How To Replace Head Gasket?

My car's been overheating for a while, I recently replaced the radiator cause the old one had a leak in it coming out from under the expansion tank, and now there's heaps of water dripping out, when the car's turned on, from underneath the motor somewhere, and the oil is milky.

Does anyone have a write up on how to get to and change the head gasket on the M44?

I have the TIS cd, would anyone know if there's a write up on there how to get to the head gasket, can't seem to find anything like that on there.

If you don't already have one, purchase a Bentley manual and possibly the 101 Projects book from PelicanParts.com. Look it over really well and decide if you're capable of doing this job. It's not something that the average DIY'er can knock out easily. If you don't know what you're doing, it's easy to mess things up. Plus there's quite a few special tools that you'll need to buy/rent/borrow. Considering all of the work involved, the possibility of the head being cracked or warped beyond repair, cost of tools if you don't have them already, etc... you might want to consider paying a shop to do it or perhaps an engine swap.

If your oil is milky then your bearings are most likly shot. Time for a replacement motor in my estimation. I have done mahy head gaskets on cars over the past 28 years and every time I did one with milky oil the engine was trash with in 2000 miles. Milky oil has no viscosity and when running the bearings are just grinding on each other.
