Default painting the molding?

hey, so i have a 99ti sport, with the m-tech molding. the molding has become dull and just doesn't look fresh anymore. what do you guys think about having the molding painted to match the car? yay or nay?

i think it can be a good look in my opinion, but it depends on what color the car is. still mbay be a gamble though. the fact that they are ///M moldings does help the apperance though

I'm not a fan of painting those moldings to match the car, but I'm an old fart. LOL Have you considered using "Forever Black" (or something similar) to make the moldings black again?

Here it is painted to match on a Artic Silver car, like the car in your photo gallery. I could go either
way on it, both look really good to me, Maybe I would lean slightly towards the black.

But The more I look at it the silver, it is really starting to appeal to me!

I like the way the painted front and rear look, but now I'm thinking the side molding adds some needed contrast. roadrash, have you worked with that "forever black" stuff before? would it necessitate removal of the molding (i.e. how careful do you have to be with it)?

I do not remember the company, but just used bumper paint on my moldings. That stuff doesn't chip at all (& very very clingy to EVERYTHING it touches) and it has the same finish as they would brand new.

But with forever black you might as well take the molding off. It can't touch painted surfaces

It's been 5-6 years since I used it on my previous car. I didn't take the molding off, I was just very careful to not get any on the paint, and then to quickly wipe off any that did get on the paint. That car, and my current one, were both black so I wasn't particularly worried. :-)

same here oddly enough, typically I don't like painted moldings, definitely keep the bumper diffuser black whatever you do though

Whenever I see the molding painted on a BMW I think the car has been repainted by someone who did not want to take the time to properly do it. It might be the old school BMW in me buy I prefer the molding to stay its natural color.

E36's look better with black moldings, with the matched color moldings, it looks like the car has been repainted or something. But then again, that's just my opinion.
