Default No Start issue

I was driving home last night and i went over a slight bump and noticed that something wasn't right, i stomped on the throttle and no response, depressed the clutch... tach dropped and lights came on... managed to pull the car off the road tried to start... no response, acted like it wasn't getting fuel, let it sit, and tried again, it cranked, started but spit and sputter then quit, and wouldn't start...

Checked fuses, still had 1/4 tank of gas, engine wants to start but acts like its not getting fuel, never had any issues before i'm a little stumped and would appreciate any help

fuel pump, or at least thats what was wrong with mine, and it sounds like you have the same problem.

would it actually cause the car to start and idle rough and then give out again? and how hard would it be to change the fuel pump?

well when it happened to me, i tried starting the car a few mins later and it would start and go alright but then it would sputter out.
and as for changing it, im not sure im 16 and just got the TI a week and a half ago, but i took it to a mechanic and he fixed it. i found this link on the forum, but idk how much of a DIYer you are

I'd also bet on a fuel pump. Most of the time just enough fuel is sent (even when bad) and that allows it to start. However since the pump isn't providing the correct pressure needed, that causes the spitting and sputter.
My car was the same way when I bought it too.

http://www.aa1car.com/library/2003/us60324.htm

go down to the "Cranks but won't start" bold headline and check those as well

p.s. sorry that i cant tell you first-hand how to check, not that much of a car person yet.

Have someone turn the key to ON & have your ear where the fuel filler is. You should here the pump.

Okay, I pulled the back seat and found the access panel on the passenger side, poped it open, had girlfriend turn the key and even attemp to start while i listened vice versa, and we heard nothing... gonna pull fuel line in a bit after it warms up and see if it squirts fuel also gonna check wire connections with a multimeter to confirm its pump and not wiring issue.

Okay good news bad news time....
Good news:

Car started today... and ran with no issues

Bad News:

Why would the car just up and shut off and not start again?
could it be the fuel pump? Water in gas? or just one of those days?
