So I was watching 9 News the other day and they interviewed someone on camera (apparently a man on the street expert) who said, “This is crazy man, I have never seen a tornado in Denver as long as I have lived here”

I think he must have just moved here this year.

Well it's been what 20 years since the tornado hit over off of Monaco? Seems like it...I remember it well although I was fortunately out in Aurora that day at the dentist. Everyone was worried about it hitting downtown...14th and Monaco was pretty dang close! The guy's lucky if he's never seen one...

Yes, I remember that Monaco F3 tornado and I think it was on June 15th, 1988.
How about the June 4, 1981 tornado that touched down in Thornton and also hit Denver & Lakewood? It was bad enough that the National Guard was called out on that one.
Does anyone happen to remember the date of the tornado that hit Broadway and Evans? Or the one that touched down at 6th Avenue and Sheridan?

Oh well, time seems to really fly by, and I guess that this just really shows my age.

I really just remember the one on 14th & Monaco more than anything. I worked downtown and lived in GVR at the time. I pretty much grew up on SE Denver so anything west or north is a mystery as Stephen B. and the Hawk used to say...lol...ok I'm showing my age now too!

This microburst or possible tornado hit right in my neighborhood Monday night, have been cleaning up the debris all day.

The news helicopters and vans have been circling all day and lots of "lookie loos" just driving thru the neighborhood. I was out on my deck about 10:15pm last night when I heard this one coming from about a half a mile out and I could see the lightening in the approaching storm cell was lit up like a Christmas tree.

The noise from the wind and hail was so deafening loud inside my house that you could not even hear yourself scream.

The hail was 2˝+" deep in my yard and up to 1" in diameter, and even the snow plows came out about 20 minutes after the storm passed to clear the hail and tree branches out of the intersections and piled the hail up in drifts that were over 6' high. And day later after the storm and I still have some hail in my back yard.

I am personally still without power and running off a generator right now.

I had all but one in a garage, it is my “winter rat”, a 1987 Celica, it was ugly before and it actually got worse, I never thought that could happen. Lost the windshield, driver’s door glass, rear quarter glass and the rear window and it also now has this new textured look to the sheet metal. Just one more reason now to never wash it.
