PLEASE HELP WITH ENGINE SWAP

guys i really need help, i searched the whole forum, and all the treads about swaping engines from manual m50/m52 into manual 318ti!!

i know that i will have issues with the driveshaft.....

i just want to know if the harnesses will be compartable????
i have a 04/98 318ti (automatic) and 02/99 323is (manual).
PLEASE HELP!!!!
I'm doing everything on my own, and any support is highly appreciated!!

All that info is on the engine swap subforum. Jim sells a swap manual that is pretty much the swap bible for a 318ti. What you are wanting to do is very do-able but your EWS system will be an issue unless you have the entire donor car available. Read the forums. they will be your second best source of information, best source being the swap manual.

Thats an interesting swap. We are now talking about an E46 engine that is factory installed in a E36 coupe, correct? I guess you better have all the associated EWS parts, engine harness, DME, and cluster from the donor car for this to go smooth.
Sorry I can't be of any help. I did a 97 S52 into a 98 ti and it went pretty smooth. A few hiccups here and there but this forum was tremendous in helping me out.

First of all, thank you so much for replies!!! from what you guys wrote i have now a question: 1.How to find Jim? (I'm new to this forum and not familiar with all the search options) I forgot to tell you guys, I have the whole donor car, its 1999 323is (manual) with m52 engine. this car was completely restored in my garage, i did put full 99 M3 suspention,M3 brakes poly bushings all around,all new M interior, the only thing i didn't touch was an engine, it has only 40k miles and was replaced thru the insurance by previous owner. right before new years my car hydroplaned in to a wall and got totaled, just happened that i bought a nice TI with bad engine with intention to put LS engine in it, but now my main car is totaled so i decided dont spend money on a new shell and just put engine and tranny in the TI. For last couple years i been investing too much money in bmw's that i never will be able to get back, so now I'm trying to build the car from something i already have. I will definitely get a manual from Jim, (I'm pretty sure i should be able to pull it up myself, but have a good source of knowledge is always the best)
