My experience, trying to fix: Yesterday, I took off the intake boot to take a look at the butterfly valves themselves. I used brake cleaner to break up the moderate carbon buildup as best I could, then wiped it out with a paper towel. Repeated this until I thought it was good, then repeated it a few more times. I then used some high quality spray lubricant to oil the hinges, wiping out the excess with a paper towel. I can still feel the point where the butterfly valves meet, but it is now possible to smoothly accelerate from a stop or out of a shift, and it's just a much more positive throttle feel. Hope this helps, teetime! Dave, I absolutely agree that it's nice to have that feedback and feel as you dip into it, but it starts to be sort of detrimental when it interferes with smooth throttle motion at the pedal. |
