I'm supposed to have 91 or 93 octane gas to run the ship at it's full power and I have 3/4 tank of 89 octane. The booklet says I can harm the engine if I don't run it on the right octane and I called Turner and they said I should wait til it's empty and then I called M3 MotorWerks and they said I can mix the gas with 93 and shouldn't worry for now. So what should I do? Thanks, Will. | | | 01-15-2005, 12:10 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | poll is not working for some reason, but do u think I should mix the gas with 93 or wait til it's empty and fill it up to install the chip? | | | 01-15-2005, 12:29 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Mt. Laurel, NJ Posts: 390 | drive around till the gas tank is empty, there is ur solution, drive around till u have 1/4 gas then fill it up with 93 octane gas. there u go then u will u have maybe 91-92 octane gas.. go out to the highway and drive at high rpm, or stop at light and floor the car best way to waste gas __________________ Intake, Sony mp3/cd player, remus cat-back exhaust, | | | 01-15-2005, 04:23 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Posts: 153 | Or put a little 104+ Octane Booster in the tank and fill it the rest of the way with Supreme and you should be good to go... __________________ 1998 318ti M-Sport - Jet Black w/Millpoint RedBlack interior Pics & Info here... | | | 01-15-2005, 04:27 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by Viper3812 poll is not working for some reason, but do u think I should mix the gas with 93 or wait til it's empty and fill it up to install the chip? | I have the poll function only in the polls forum. I'd run the gas down first. When I knew I was going to chip my car I started a week before putting in high octane. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-15-2005, 05:38 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | Thanks for the info. I'm almost to half a tank and tomorrow I'm gonna try and run out the rest of it, really want to get the chip in. And for a mileage update, I have 3 more miles and then the odometer strikes 50,000. | | | 01-15-2005, 06:34 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: washington Posts: 42 | Hey i was wondering if anyone can tell me where i can get a TMS chip for a 97 318ti because i went on thier website and they dont have them for any 318 series. thanks __________________ 1997 BMW 318ti Cosmo Racing CAI Next Project: Exhaust... | | | 01-15-2005, 10:08 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | The only company that has a chip for an M44 OBD-II engine is Dinan. Actually it is a flash. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-16-2005, 01:26 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | Quote: Originally Posted by Steven Schlossman The only company that has a chip for an M44 OBD-II engine is Dinan. I didn't know he also had one for a normally aspirated also. Nick is good. He did some cool stuff to my DME. When you watch him work he makes it look so simple. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-16-2005, 10:10 AM | #11 | Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: washington Posts: 42 | hey the chip on TMS was only for 1992-1995 models and i have a 97 so im guessing dinan is the way to go but if anyone else has any links they can give me that would be great. thanks __________________ 1997 BMW 318ti Cosmo Racing CAI Next Project: Exhaust... | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
