Default Can you regulate the main hood lock (the right one when facing car)?

I replaced my hood latch cable at the mechanic and now the hood won't close shut. All seems connected and working ok, but the cable needs some more slack in order for the pin in the lock to catch the hood pin correctly. It all seems too tight and causing tension, so it's like pulling the lever at 50-60%.

Things I tested:
The lever is at 0% did wiggle it
The cable is pulled as far as it can go (through the firewall)

Any ideas?

Mine is kind of like that I have to "snap" the lever a few times before the little metal ring is exposed enough to catch the post on the hood. I sometimes have to wiggle it out a little with a key or screwdriver nd just bend it back a little. Lol thats how mine is but it works fine other then that. Try shaping the lever in the cabin a few times that might help to bring the ring out and catch the post better

The hood's already popped on me on the highway and I'm scared stiff when I drive her this way.

Thanks for the help. The problem was my idiot mechanic never snaked the new hood cable with the old then used a coat-hanger to pass the new one. I removed the cable he installed and reinstalled it by snaking the shortest path. Now it's just perfect. I payed 2 hours of labour for nothing.
Mental note: never have that hillbilly work on my car again.
