I would say there was $200 worth of leftovers, little mistakes, and fuel to tune All and all not bad and it was relay only intended to see what the motor can handle and it loves the boost even with 240,000kms on it I run other cars and pull ahead and they run high 12s at the track so I would say for $1500 it was totally worth it | | | 07-20-2010, 02:25 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: Sydney, Australia Posts: 593 | Nice setup. Can you please answer these questions for me. 1. OBD-1 or OBD-II. Looks like OBD-I to me, but who can look at a picture and tell. 2. How does it run. Does boost hit hard? Like it spools and wham it smacks you in in the seat of the pants? Thanks, John S Nice picture clean setup. Thanks for posting | 1> OBD1 2> Run's very well..the only problem I have at this point because the AFM is on the hot side it seems to want to heat soak after shutting off the car and if your goto drive 15mins later the car runs lean for a min or so till cool air hits the afm temp sensor but I just need to edit a small portion of the software to fix it... Also running 2step colder spark plugs ngk iridium race plugs and cannot say enough good things about them here is some pulls with 15psi and conservative ignition timing so at 3800rpm to 7000rpm it's at 16degs advance....When I run 20degs advance it's much quicker then those videos and if I advance to 23 degs I get some mild detonation so 19-20 degs is a good point for 91 octane http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tN-mR6P0MWc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M38uEQetPKU Last edited by bmwconnect; 07-20-2010 at 11:44 AM. | | | 07-21-2010, 11:40 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | I run 8 deg advance under boost and I have a 8.6:1 motor. I have run 25psi 3-4 times (Full Meth @ 20psi 100% meth mix) and 29psi once (Full Meth @20psi 49% Meth/51% Water mix). All boost is controlled by a Gizmo MS-IBC, I love this controller. I have 3 boost settings and remote push button changes or scramble changes on the fly or delay setting. I.E. 15psi launch and 20psi @ 3,500 in second gear through the rest of the run. The 29psi was a accident when I had less then 600 miles on the motor and what caused me to buy a electronic boost controller. Engine held up fine Need to do some tuning from my 42.8# Lucas Blue strip to the 60# Delphi EV1's I have. These will be stable to 30psi and are suppose to be real good injectors. Sorry for the book folks John Smith | | | 07-22-2010, 02:05 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Ottawa Posts: 579 | Quote: Originally Posted by xxxJohnBoyxxx Usually 15psi 99% of the time (30% spray of meth/water on red nozzle), 20psi 1-2 times a month (1% in @ 10psi and 100% dump on Meth by 20psi on red nozzle). Sorry for the book folks John Smith | 8degs advance with 15psi and water/meth is much much to low...Most cars make best power around 18-22degs on moderate boost on pump gas without meth lol | | | 07-22-2010, 12:59 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Leeds, England Posts: 133 | Nice work!
