Rear Brake caliper rebuild

Does anyone know of a supplier for a rear caliper rebuild kit for the ti? Pelican doesn't list one and from the dealer is almost $40.
Other BMW's have these kits for $25 from the dealer and $8 from Pelican.
I'd love to get a pair of kits for my upcoming rear brake job. Anyone have a source?

I got one from Pelican. I had to call them to order it and they sent the wrong one originally. After I talked to them again and returned the wrong one I eventually got the right part. It was close to $40. I suspect that's just because of rarity and the fact that it's not something that's needed very often.

bimmerworld.com has them on their website for 17.99 per caliper. Seals and dustboots.

And they have the caliper guide bushings for 8.99 per caliper.

Thanks for the info, mohaughn. I checked out their website, but could not see the ti kit listed. So I sent an e-mail. They replied back quickly... here is what Jordan Russ said:

They have them listed. They are listed as "E36 318/325/328, Z3". You have to change the dropdown for the type of car once you select the rebuild kits. Although it is always best to ask as sometimes websites say things fit the Ti and as we all know sometimes parts can be different.

I gave you the price for the fronts... Let us know how much of a difference it makes... I probably need to rebuild my rear calipers.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead...

According to RealOEM, this rebuild kit is not the same p/n as the 318ti rear calipers. The 318/325/328 p/n is: 34211158883 and the 318ti p/n is: 34211160336. Can anyone verify that these are/are not interchangeable? $14.99 is a lot nicer than $41.75 (Pelican's price for the ti rear rebuild kits), but I don't want to pull the trigger on the wrong part. Hello all,

I'm running into the same problem I see on this thread here. One of my calipers is sticking, I can see that one of the seals is all dried out and has pulled away from its fitting. I would like to rebuild rather than replace the caliper and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

We must have a rear caliper that is on another BMW, right? I doubt BMW developed a whole new caliper just for one vehicle. Does anyone know what rebuild kit I can order from an online provider?

Caliper rebuild kists are getting less and less common. Shops don't want the liability.

NAPA carries all the parts except the internal rebuild parts.

Well I can find rebuild kits for most BMW's out there. All the ones for the E36 series say "except the ti and M3," and then they have the ones for the M3 listed separately. Is our rear caliper found on another vehicle in the same generation? I can't imagine that our rear calipers are unique to only the ti's.

RealOEM shows the late (1991) E30 and E36/5 rear calipers as two different P/N's.


With regard to the rebuild kit- the rear caliper on the Ti is apparently the only BMW rear caliper that takes this particular kit. Expect to pay $45-55 (or more!) per wheel for the kit. When I rebuilt mine earlier this year, my local dealer was charging about $8 OVER list price for the part. Bastards!

My dealer doesn't offer a rebuild kit, just the whole caliper. I didn't even ask what that would cost...

Now the questions is, does anyone know where I can get one of these at a "reasonable" price?

I found out my piston is ceased and so the whole assembly needs to be replaced, but I hope this helps the next guy looking for a seal kit.

So this kit is everything I would need to do a rebuild for my rear calipers? How is it possible that the price is 1/10 th of what it is everywhere else? Has anyone ever heard of Centric?
