Default FS: 1998 Black BMW 318ti (active model), manual transmission

For sale for $3,500 firm.

With a heavy heart I must sell my black 1998 BMW 318ti car. It has 136,884 miles. It's a hoot to drive and handles very well. The air conditioning system runs strong. With the growing family I decided to get a wagon (manual a must) and to pass this car on. Since purchasing in the summer of 2002, I've taken good care of this car and have replaced all major components to make it last the duration. The interior is clean. All interior headliner and pillar fabric have been replaced (see below), but I removed the headliner on the moonroof as it was starting to get jammed. The exterior is showing some signs of age and there are dings here and there. At almost 20 years old, it is mechanically sound and running very strong. It's a one of kind car that should be preserved. Getting more and more unique on the roads. I would drive this car cross country in a heartbeat. It's great for road trips and compact for the city car.

All servicing was performed by Terry Sayther Independent BMW shop and my trusted mechanic Greg Black here in Austin, Texas. Straightforward mechanical items were completed by yours truly. I have all records for the work that was performed and kept all receipts of the parts I've purchased. Here is a list of recent noteworthy items. I have only used OEM parts.

- always replaced oil with Mobil synthetic and mahle filters on schedule
- air filter and cabin air intake filter changed on schedule
- inspection 1 and inspection 2 completed by Terry Sayther Independent shop
- replaced headliner entirely by J&H Auto Trim
- replaced crankshaft & camshaft sensors
- replaced engine o-rings, valve cover gaskets, spark plug gaskets and sealing washers
- replaced timing chain tensioner
- replaced oil filter housing gasket
- replaced spark plugs and spark plug wires
- replaced with new steering rack, steering coupler, tie rod ends and boots
- replaced fuel filter
- replaced left and right lower control arms and bushings
- replaced front sway bar bushings and both links
- replaced thrust control arm bushings with M3 bushing set
- replaced catalytic converter
- replaced both transmission and both engine mounts
- replaced rear shocks absorbers (Bilstein) and associated parts with spring rubber isolators
- replaced front shocks (Bilstein) and upper strut mounts with spring rubber isolators
- differential oil replaced at 115,913m
- transmission oil replaced at 115,913m
- both driver and passenger door actuator have been replaced
- I have replaced the following trim: a few door seals, plastic cowls and door handle trims
- coolant system overhaul: new radiator, thermostat, waterpump, o-rings and coolant connector pipe
- replaced idler pulleys
- replaced all belts
- both driver's and passenger's window motor/regulator have been replaced
- replaced squeaky slip ring on the steering wheel

Thule roof rack system with bike trays are provided
All floor mats (including hatch) have been upgraded to the WeatherTech brand
BMW jack pad (side of vehicle) is provided
Bentley repair manual provided
Haynes repair manual provided

It will be sad to see this car go, but hoping it can go to an owner whom will keep it going for many miles ahead.

Thank you,
Nirav V. Patel

Pinoy123, My asking price has been lowered to $4,600 OBO. Let me know if you are interested. A few folks in Austin have been contacting over email, but they have not come over to inspect and test drive. Would be fun road trip for you. Take care

Hi Pinoy. What are you willing to pay? I doubt it. If you go check out many of the ti's for sale, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a clean one that is good to go for 200k plus. Accounting for all the upkeep and parts I've invested into it, I'd rather sell it for what I feel it's worth to the interested buyer. Or pass it on to a family member. Ha. All the best in your car search.

Kbb value is not market value... There are cars out here for KBB value but there's other rare gems that exceed that. By thousands

Car is still for sale. Asking $4,200 for it. We welcomed a new baby into the household recently so selling the car was not priority. However, I was able to do more work on it and repacked some key parts in the cooling system. The car is running like clockwork. +n

Selling for $3,500 if interested. Feel free to get in touch if you want to come see it. Taking up space on the driveway now. Poor thing.
