Was going through a bunch of really old threads about the stromung and supersprint exhausts. All of the sites previously listed do not cary the Ti Supersprint system anymore. Anyone know where I can buy it? EDIT: my bad on my stupidity. RD is a rebranded Remus exhaust and is still easy to find. i just did a simple google shopping search and found a few. prices are pretty steep, but hey i guess you have to pay to play :P __________________ *IF ITS FAST AND CHEAP, ITS NOT RELIABLE* *IF ITS CHEAP AND RELIABLE, ITS NOT FAST* *IF ITS FAST AND RELIABLE, ITS NOT CHEAP* Last edited by THAT318; 06-28-2010 at 08:56 AM. | | | 06-28-2010, 09:29 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Jun 2010 Location: Connecticut Posts: 58 | Thanks for the response. Have been searching but no luck online. Kinda leaning toward the stromung to be honest. | | | 06-28-2010, 09:34 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Gilbert Posts: 621 | yea i feel you. sound preference and tip appearance is what matters with our cars. theres deff no serious power gains from an exhaust on a 4banger bimmer. you like the stromung, find one. it will be hard but you like it dig for it i guess. good luck with the search ill let you know if i see anything. __________________ *IF ITS FAST AND CHEAP, ITS NOT RELIABLE* *IF ITS CHEAP AND RELIABLE, ITS NOT FAST* *IF ITS FAST AND RELIABLE, ITS NOT CHEAP* | | | 06-28-2010, 11:17 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Jun 2010 Location: Connecticut Posts: 58 | Thanks bro, the stromung is pretty easy to find from understeer.com. Like you said, no real power gains from a 4 banger. This is my first 4 cyl BMW. So far many of the exhausts ive hear on youtube sound like civic exhausts. Totally not cool lol. | | | 06-28-2010, 12:33 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: back in PA Posts: 204 | One of the online vendors had a Supersprint clearance sale a few months ago...sold out immediately. I have a Stromung also. Not too bad after it's broken in...not quite Honda fart-can levels. (a 4 banger will sound like a 4 banger..can't do much about it) | | | 06-28-2010, 03:54 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Gilbert Posts: 621 | a grand is rediculous for an exhaust on out lil ti's. __________________ *IF ITS FAST AND CHEAP, ITS NOT RELIABLE* *IF ITS CHEAP AND RELIABLE, ITS NOT FAST* *IF ITS FAST AND RELIABLE, ITS NOT CHEAP* | | | 06-28-2010, 07:56 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Baltimore, MD Posts: 130 | I gotta Remus from BavAuto.com not to long ago. They were having a sale. I know most say you wont get a significant power gain from the 4cyl but I know when I put mine on, I def felt more power and quicker in the higher RPM's. Sounds real good too.....not ricey or too loud. | | | 06-28-2010, 08:33 PM | #10 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by MyTi82 I gotta Remus from BavAuto.com not to long ago. Same thing when people fog their airbox and make claims that it made a HUGE improvement. | | | 06-28-2010, 10:43 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Remus Although if I could get a supersprint I would be all over it. There was an article floating around that showed the supersprint offering the best gains on the M44 engine. I believe it was around a whopping 2-3hp... Don't expect much from a catback. Edit - Found the comparo... http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e36/per...aust_test.html __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM Last edited by spidertri; 06-28-2010 at 10:47 PM. | | | 06-28-2010, 11:17 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: San Diego Posts: 340 | The Stroemung has a very nice sound to it, especially if you clearance the midpipe properly so that it doesn't rattle against the frame crossmember. tbw __________________ 1/1997 M44 ti M-Sport Schwartz II | | | 06-28-2010, 11:26 PM | #13 | Member Join Date: Jun 2010 Location: Connecticut Posts: 58 | Quote: Originally Posted by UberWagen | Yea i think that $1K+ is a little much for just a catback for a 4 banger. I was thinking about adding a resonator to quiet things up a bit. | | | 06-29-2010, 04:19 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: San Diego Posts: 340 | Quote: Originally Posted by E36Wes So to those who do have the stromung, Does it sound anything like a honda or acura? The Stroemung has a proper baffle, and gives the 'ti a low exhaust signature, throaty midrange (as throaty as it gets for an M44), and... well at the top end you can't really hear the exhaust anyways, can you? You do not need to install an additional resonator to keep the Stroemung well-behaved or pleasing to the ears. You do, however, have to properly clearance the midpipe so it doens't rattle against the frame. There are a couple of writeups here in the forum. tbw __________________ 1/1997 M44 ti M-Sport Schwartz II | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
