If so where can I buy one? | | | 08-18-2010, 01:26 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: back in PA Posts: 204 | I don't think there is any aftermarket available....the ti thermostat housing is larger than standard e36 models (which have the aluminum option) AND the thermostat is built inside the housing, not separate like other e36 models. The M44 has the plastic housing with the thermostat built in. They look virtually identical. Not to say that there couldn't be some internal differences, but I've always thought that you could use the M42 metal housing if you wanted to. | | | 08-18-2010, 05:55 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: Florida Posts: 90 | I'm in the middle of trying to figure this out as well, will post what I find. | | | 08-20-2010, 02:10 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: Florida Posts: 90 | Metric Mechanic said they are not interchangeable. The seal appears different on Realoem. Would be nice... | | | 08-22-2010, 12:03 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: FWB, FL Posts: 9 | The plastic one lasts at least 10 years. Should be changing the thermostat by then anyways. | | | 08-23-2010, 08:59 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2010 Location: Riverside ,So-Cal Posts: 725 | Is changing a thermostat easy to do? | | | 08-24-2010, 03:28 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Quote: Originally Posted by Ralliart10 Is changing a thermostat easy to do? | On these cars, yes.
