Default 97 Ti, Check engine light, Can I reset,?

It seems like I came through a very hard right turn while going up about a 12% grade and kinda drifted around the turn and the check engine light came on.
I drove another 20 miles and the car runs fine but the light is annoying,
Is there a way I can reset it?
Vehicle has 147K on it and just drove it 310 miles at 75 MPH with no issues,
Also drove it some 400 miles over the past 3 weeks since I bought it with no issues,
I bought it with all the service records and I do not believe this was ever an issue.
Thank you for any assistance.
Peter

Have you checked your oil level recently?

Yes I checked it about 5 min after the check engine light came on,
It was right in the middle of where is was supposed to be,
Is it possible I sloshed the oil away from the sump for a moment causing low oil pressure turning on the light?
And if so, Will it reset it's self?
This was a 180* turn, Steep up hill and I slowed first, Then floored 2nd thru accelerating and noted a light on...
Why? ? ?

Disconnect the battery but make sure if you have an Oem radio to have the code for it. Either way I would go to autozone and get that checked could be something

Question?......How does that effect the OEM radio?...And how would you utilize the code?....

the OEM radio has an anti-theft code, whenever the power is disconnected from the radio you need to enter the code using the preset buttons so it will work again, otherwise the radio will just be disabled

You should have a card with the code on it in the user manual if not you can go to the dealer with your radio , title and form of Id and they can get it for you for free

Just take it to autozone, they will check it for free. you should not just reset the light, it could be anything that was just provoked by the wreckless driving.

My guess it the Cat converter or O2 sensor, but it could be serious, like something with the motor or a sensor. they will tell you for free if you take it to the right place.

You can also just buy a cheapy one from China or ebay. mine was like $80 2 years ago, but it is only $40 now, and if you buy it direct from China, it is like $20. connects to the computer, gives you live data and your Check Engine Light info. you can reset lights right from that too.

Just an idea. any OBD2 reader should work. but otherwise, just go to Autozone. I would not suggest just removing the battery. it is not a solution to anything, and causes problems with the OEM radio (if you still have it), and you will never know what the code was for. CEL codes just show because you went around a turn fast, if that was the case, all cars would have them lite.

If it is not a serious code, they often turn themselves off after 30ish miles.. (sometimes, depending on the code)
