It is a caliper cover that is basically a bolt on item. I don't race my car and I can't justify spending 1,600 to 3,500 on a big brake kit. I sent an email to them with some questions on it but I haven't heard back from them as of yet. What do you think? I think they look pretty cool. They come 2 styles; carbon fiber and red. Go to: www.bavauto.com search for the following part # TAP003R or type in "cover" and scroll down. You need to select your year and model etc. | | | 03-15-2005, 06:31 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Garden City, NY/Daytona Beach, FL Posts: 228 | Looks kinda cheesey, IMO... that's just me though. __________________ --------------------------------------- '97 Hellrot 318ti - Active, 5 speed 17'' BMW Motorsport Wheels ACS-"Style" (E-Bay, haha) Racing Pedals M Frontspoiler (OEM) Alpine CDA 9827 MP3/CD Head Unit Alpine E12 Subwoofer (now stolen) Audiobahn A4002T Amp (also now stolen) Dented driver side fender (provided courtesy of blind 80 year old woman) Keyed passenger door (provided by someone who likes to key red cars) Soon to come (now that I've graduated and have a real job) S52 Engine Swap!!! I got my answers just now from bavauto. Here is the email quoted. "Shawn, Yes, these will fit your car. Some brake dust could accumulate under them. We recommend removing them and cleaning them once a year. It may effect heat dissipation. If you are using the car in track situations, this product probably would not be suitable. These do not require any drilling. " | | | 03-15-2005, 08:06 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Removes all the coolness of the caliper. And what does the cost of this item have to do with have the price of an exhaust? I'm not looking to replace that any time soon. | | | 03-16-2005, 03:59 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Garden City, NY/Daytona Beach, FL Posts: 228 | Quote: Originally Posted by ScnStlr ;} boy you guys really don't like these. gee whiz. But hey, it's your car man, I've said this to other people before; Do what you like with it. It only has to look good to you. But honestly... look at those covers, they don't have a "big break" look, they look like toys. It makes the calipers not look like calipers anymore. There's no definition, it's just a colored, rounded coverup. If that's what you want, then go for it! I get it. I'm going to plan to do what cali-ti mentions in the long run. I now get what you were saying the the "half the exhaust" comment. You're all right with the comments they do look a little "jank" now that I look at it closer. I mainly thought it was interesting to look at. I'm just don't want to spend thousands in brake upgrades I really don't need. Thanks for all the feedback. I've now come back to earth and reality. Gee now I'm freaked to show you guys my new rims which i'll post in another thread. | | | 03-16-2005, 08:36 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Naw c'mon, we'll be nice...
