Default Another new tire thread

So is anybody running a new tire and have some reviews to share? There have been several new high performance tires released...

I should have a new set of Dunlop Dirreza Z1 star specs here tomorrow.. They are supposed to be a very good tire for lighter cars that don't build up as much tire temp as larger cars. They also have some great reviews from the SCCA Solo nationals. I don't do a lot of auto-x, but I will be able to have some good feedback from a DE/track perspective next month.

Can't beat the price at 128$(17/225/45) a tire either. The reviews seem to place this tire as better than the Bridgestone RE-01r in terms of overall grip and ability to handle heat. And they are about 60$ cheaper per tire..

Hey guys,
I've been crazy busy with work and was surfing the threads when I stumbled across this and had to give my feedback.
The * specs are great tires compared to the Yoko Neovas and almost 50% cheaper. I'm running a set of 235/40s on 17x8 wheels and actually ran them at a local track last month during some testing for new parts we're developping. At full tread depth it is amazing how fast they come up to temp; great turn-in and loads of grip lap after lap.

Cheers,

I put the direzza's on last week. Got about 200 miles on them so far, as well as got a really good alignment done earlier in the week. I can already tell the difference in the sidewall stiffness between the Z1 and the MX.. Turn in is also dramatically improved. So far I'm very happy with this tire..

I'll put another 100 miles on them driving to the track tomorrow, and then the fun will begin...

Good...I just ordered the DZ1's over the Kumho's from T-Rack (Along with the clearance priced Kosei 16" rims) Stumbled on this thread AFTER ordering so I'm relieved a few of the Dunlop Dirreza's are out there getting good reviews.

[I hated the old Dunlop 8080E's I had on my ex-M Roady]

I'm sure you'll lke them, but keep in mind that the Z1s are extreme performance tires (the closet you'll get to a DOT track/comp. spec tire); whereas the 8080E was an OE supplied tire; completely different tires.

Btw, I'll try to post some pics of the track set-up as soon as I have a chance.

Cheers,

I ran on Sunday at Sebring. I got 5, 30 minute sessions on these tires.. The tires had about 350 miles on them before the event, and the temperature range we between 92 degrees and 95 degrees throughout the day...

I only felt the tire get greasy at one point during one of the last sessions of the day... I'm pretty sure I have my starting pressures to high as I was running at like 41psi after running a cool down lap... I was starting at 34front/36rear, but I probably need to try 32front/34rear with the ambient temp this high....

This tire is so much better than the Kumho MX... Not as noisy at the limit, and better grip... I did notice some tire squirm compared to the Kumho's, but you can't really compare a tire with 2mm of tread left to a full tread tire...

I'm fairly certain that once these tires have a little bit more wear in them, they will perform better than the Kumho's in all regards. My best time on Saturday was 2 seconds slower than my previous best time. Probably attributed to me not pushing as hard as I am still getting used to this tire.
