Here's the problem, this is the 2nd time the clips that hold the door panel to the door have failed. I need a diagram of the position of the clips, because the glue that i used the 2nd time around to fix the doors covered up the numbers on the door, but i can still see the numbers on the clip, so i just need a diagram of where they go. Also a suggestion on a good adhesive would be helpful! __________________ BMW 318ti M Body Kit, Future M3 engine swap My 318ti | | | 07-26-2005, 01:50 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | I don't think there is a diagram since the clips and the door panel are one piece. Some of the clips are obvious. Find two of the obvious ones and just follow the numbers around. They are all in order. Phil drilled holes through the black fasteners so the glue could ooze through acting like a rivet. I think he used Gorilla glue. I used at the advice of the NAPA store, 3M weather stripping adhesive. It did not work well. I did it twice despite letting it dry for hours. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-26-2005, 01:52 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Los Angeles Posts: 190 | i like the idea of drilling the holes, i'll look for some kick ass glue and try it out. __________________ BMW 318ti M Body Kit, Future M3 engine swap My 318ti | | | 07-26-2005, 03:37 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Jacksonville, Florida Posts: 322 | I've been through the process of re-gluing my door panel clips many times, with many different glues. I went to a craft/fabric store and picked up this glue called "E6000" and it has worked very well. It's super heavy duty super glue. | | | 07-26-2005, 03:45 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Los Angeles Posts: 190 | thanks for the info, i'll look for that __________________ BMW 318ti M Body Kit, Future M3 engine swap My 318ti | | | 07-26-2005, 04:49 AM | #6 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | i'm guessing these clips are similar to the ones for the rear inside quarters. i just used 5 minute epoxy to glue one of mine back on, we'll see how that works | | | 07-30-2005, 06:06 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Virginia Posts: 48 | Need more door fasteners! I just recently had to fix my power window track and found that I have a few loose door fasteners and a few missing ones. Ill try the tips for securing the loose ones but does anyone know how or where i might find replacements for the missing ones. At this point I'm willing to buy the whole set becuse I have to go back in to install new tweets and didnt reallize that they were numbered when I was in there last week. | | | 07-30-2005, 07:41 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: England, UK Posts: 1,288 | the joys of araldite! you'd need a blow torch to get it off..... __________________ 1995 BMW 316i Cosmos Black Mods: • Magnex Cat-Back Exhaust • Smoked Corner Lights + Repeators • M3 17" Wheels • De-Baffled Air Box • AC HandBrake Handle and Gear Knob • DEPO Euro Epsiloids + Predator Chronium Rings • Chrome Interior bits •IE Poly-Urethane RSFMs • Kenwood Power Series Audio • Powder Coated e36 325 Front Callipers • Sports Seats | | | 07-30-2005, 08:30 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Southern California Posts: 225 | Epoxy Multipurpose is the way to go. this thing stick to anything, including metal. I've also noticed that it appears that I have a few of them missing as well. I read other threads that stated these things are numbered, I'm not sure what numbers I need, but know I need them. Does anyone know if the "nut holder" is that piece or where I might find them? | | | 07-31-2005, 09:49 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: Virginia Posts: 368 | Haven't tried Gorilla glue but JB Weld works well... Seems to work fine, but I'm sure drilling the holes helped. -Phil | | | 07-31-2005, 09:52 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by changus I was looking at the diagram and saw the item 51451885649 "Nut Holder" is this the black tower piece that holds the little clips? It is considered the door panel. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-31-2005, 09:55 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by Phil Marx Actually I used JB Weld (JB Quick) which set in 15 minutes.
