what do you guys think of this one? About 3 hrs away from me. It's not silver but the white is def nice, it's manual and the mileage is decent. He also told me bring $2k and drive it away.

http://worcester.craigslist.org/cto/4871963852.html

Also.... i need to ask the big heads/old school guys who have dealt with these cars and have had experience with them.

1 - do you guys consider high mileage to be a factor when looking to purchase one? I mean i've seen these cars on craigslist and other reviews online where the mileage was 200k or more and they look absolutely clean and start right up.

2 - how bad would it be to get an auto? I've seen 3 silver ones in the past 2 weeks but they're damn auto. I mean both my RAV and Miata are manual so i'm thinking maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have an auto. I guess i'd be losing out on the fun factor and engaging part huh.

I don't think that is a '96 based on the lack of side skirts and unpainted lower portion of the rear bumper.

I would look for maintenance over mileage. If it has had a new cooling system recently, I wouldn't worry if it had 190k. If it had 150k on the original parts, I'd think about budgeting to replace those parts soon.

I also think the 318ti would be way too slow in automatic form. It isn't a speed demon with a manual transmission, but at least you can control what gear you are in at all times.

I don't think that you can go too wrong for $2k. If most things work (windows, etc.) after that it is personal preference, cruise control, manual...

Plan to do some work on it though.

Common maintenance issues neglected are:
Entire cooling system
Oil filter housing gasket
Valve cover gasket

PS: smart to run the Vin through here to discover factory options.

hmmm i wasn't aware of the side skirts and unpainted lower portion of the rear bumper. (Sigh) I have a lot to learn. This is definitely a new platform for me but i'm excited to dive in. I'm used to the JDM shenanigans and Tom foolery.

But i will certainly find out if it's a 96 since i'm going up there this Saturday morning with a mechanic buddy of mine. You think it'll be ok to try and haggle alil bit more lower than $2k since it's a 3 hr drive for me and considering the gas and tolls, PLUS if i do purchase it that'll be double the gas and tolls going back home. I figured i would ask but i don't want to low ball or disrespect him.

yeah i was thinking the same thing. $2k seems like a fair price. KBB has it priced at $1300-1400. Don't know if that's even a factor i can use when negotiating but i doubt it.

And yes i definitely plan to put some work into it. Every time i buy a used car i go through with the whole tune-up, plugs, wires, PCV, fuel filter, VC gasket, oil change, tranny oil change, diff oil change, coolant flush, all hoses checked, belts checked, brakes checked, etc. etc.

How do you run the VIN thru here? And thanks for your response.

so i'm on ebay and i type in "318ti tein" just to see what comes up as i'll be in the market for lowering springs soon and i see this....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TEIN-H-TECH-...68f45a&vxp=mtr

I think these are meant for a E36 whether it be a coupe or sedan but now my question is.... can i use these springs which i think are meant for E36 coupes/sedans on a 318ti? Will it be the same drop meaning 1.8" front and 1"0 rear on a 318ti?

thank you!!! Why'd you sell it? Did you daily it? I honestly miss mine with the light as hell easy to remove targa top and store in the trunk lol. AND that rear power window! Mine was auto and use daily for work and school. $20 a week on gas was great.

No I never DD'd it cause it never ran. 😆 I was planning on dropping a 2nd gen b16 in it but decided It really wasn't the car for me. My head would knock on the ceiling and the seats were too skinny so my shoulders would hang over the sides. Car wasn't built for tall people. 😉 I'll prolly get another one in the future though. I agree, $20 a week is nice. That's usually what I spend with my Ti.

so the Miata has a long lost Euro sister she's never met until Saturday. Thanks again to Mike aka hotmilk400 for selling this beauty to me. Super clean, a little things here and there need work but over all gorgeous. Picked it up in PA. 2.5 hrs away.

so over the weekend i finally got some work done with my buddy's help. Dropped the front with Koni STR.T shocks/struts and H&R Sports springs.

Haven't done the rears yet because i'm waiting for the shocks to come in. They're on back order and honestly i may not even put the rear springs in since it looks low to me already and has that perfect rake look i wanted. Also installed ZKW Euro headlights, clear corner lights and shifter rebuild kit.

I know the front springs haven't quite settled yet since it's only been two days. I'm guessing in another week or so MAYBE it'll lower another 1/8" to a 1/4" so we'll see.
