I'm not sure if this has ever been posted before, but I'd like to know what other cars you guys have owned in the past. =)

Here's my story:

(1999-2001) 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra when I was 16

(2001) 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calias when I was 17 (with power leather seats and 70k miles! Almost a classic till it was stolen 4 months after I got it.) Yes, I used to be a big old V8 junkie. I don't know how I ended up loving a hatchback, hahaha.

(2001-2004) 1990 Ford Tempo - Hey, it was free, and despite all the work it needed it let me save up all my money to buy a ti!

(2004-now) 1996 BMW 318ti =)

I'm pretty young, so my story is pretty short, but I'd like to hear what other ti fans used to be into driving! Sorry if this has already been posted before!

This is to the best of my knowledge...I may have missed a few. Since I'm only 25 years old these were mostly junkers. If you think that is crazy I'll also tell you that I've been pulled over more than 30 times.

My friend actually wants to buy a 280zx...he doesn't have any money of course but I'm sure if I got him an offer he'd get a job and save.

My old car was my dads, 87 cutlass cruiser wagon! It wasnt the v8 but the v6 was a 2.8L monster that I drove into the ground. Good times. Got my ti maybe 2 1/2 months ago (im only 17) and still loving it. No major problems beisde my stupid regulator arm being bent, and my front grill falling off....but those are fixable with a small amount of cash.

1972 Ford Maverick (1st car)
1988 Ford Mustang LX (RIP, was stolen and sold for parts)
1995 Eagle Talon 16v, DOC 5spd-pretty quick...once got it up to 125-130mph on IH35 here in Texas. Whew!!! won't try that again!
1984 Honda CRX...No frills just a get me work and back car.
and NOW!!! a 1996 BMW 318ti Active, Boston Green, 205 55 16's off of a 2000 323i. 165000+and running strong. Not too many ricers will mess with me here...was in Houston a while back cruising down Richmond Ave. and took a VW Jetta, Eclipse and Honda CRX off the line and I'm only running stock right now. Will fog my intake soon with other mods soon coming.

year, model, engine/tranny, miles acquired, miles driven
1981 Ford Mustang Lx (I6 4-spd manual) 110k miles, 4k miles
1972 Ford Mustang coupe(v8, 3 spd auto) 120k, 100 miles
1984 Nissan 300zx (v6, 5 spd manual) 250k, 15k miles
1985 Toyota Celica GT (I4, 4 spd auto) 105k, 50k miles
1985 Toyota MR2 (I4, 5 spd manual) 110k, 2k miles
1985 Toyota MR2 (I4, 5 spd manual, yes I had two) 93k, 3k miles
1986 Nissan 300zx turbo (v6, 5 spd manual) 45k, 30k miles
1983 Toyota Tercel 4x4 (I4, 6 spd manual) 220k, 10k miles
1991 Honda Prelude SI (I4, 5 spd manual) 110k, 13k miles
1993 Acura Legend (V6, 5 spd manual, yes manual!) 150k, 13k miles
1995 BMW 318ti Club Sport (I4, 5 spd manual) (current car) 115k, 8k miles
1988 Toyota Pickup 4x4 (I4, 5 spd manual) (current car) 194k, 3k miles

So total miles when purchased 1.622 million, miles I have driven 151k. Not counting the two vehicles I own, the sale price - the purchase price adds up to about $3,500 expense to me for all the vehicles. I am a fan of cheap used cars. I don't think I will ever buy new.

I'll try to start at the beginning...looks like a lot of you shared the same storied path of car ownership that I have! These are not in exact order since some of them came and went so fast I barely remember them.

1: 1971 Chevy Chevelle (dropped a 350 in it...first easy swap - learned not to judge a book by it's cover: shiny red paint = nasty bondo underneath!)
2: 1984 Chevy Cavalier (learned to drive stick)
3: 1987 Dodge Dakota (Dropped a 360 in it...first moderately difficult swap)
4: 1976 Plymouth Trailduster (beast)
5: 1991 Dodge Grand Caravan (pimp..long wheelbase, tint, fugly wheel covers, futon mattress in the back)
6: 1991 Ford Festiva (sister gave it to me - dropped a DOHC 1.8 in it...first very hard and unsuccessful swap)
7: 1989 Ford Festiva (got a 5-spd this time, ripped out the interior and went nuts)
8: 1985 Chevy Celebrity wagon (police auction - $200)
9: 1990 Honda CRX Si (totalled)
10: 1987 Volvo 740 turbo wagon (dropped a chevy V8 in it - moderately difficult but successful)
11: 1987 VW Jetta GLi
12: 1993 Honda Del Sol
13: 2002 Mazda Protege 5 (wife's car - current)
14: 2001 VW Jetta GLS 1.8T
15: 1990 Volvo 740 turbo wagon
16: 2001 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro (nice car - hated the payments)
17: 1976 BMW 2002 - black
18: 1976 BMW 2002 - green (current parts car)
19: 1976 BMW 2002 - blue (current)
20: 1996 318ti auto (current)
21: 1996 318ti 5-spd (picking up this week)

I think there were a few more and my dad and my wife could rattle them off but these are the ones that left any impression on me. We've always wanted one or two ti's though, ever since they came out, and they're finally affordable. So I started out Chevy and ended up Bimmer. I guess that's a good progression. Fun thread! Memories...
