Default Weekend tuneup: oil change, oil filter housing gasket & spark plugs

This weekend, along with upgrading to 300mm vented brakes I also did some maintenance... I wanted to share some feedbacks.

I replaced the 50K miles old Bosch Platimun Ir Fusion (Iridium plugs paid about $10 per plug) with NGK V-Power (Copper plugs paid $2 each). I have to admit the car idle improved (smoother and more consistent) and some hesitation when cold is all gone... So I gotta admit I'm convinced that with plugs the more expensive plugs are not worth. There is no improvement... Maybe they'll last longer (if they actually do) but IMHO the price does not justify the investment.

I also replaced the gasket on the oil filter housing and it went smooth... The old gasket was very dry. I also washed the engine with some degreaser and Simple Green, to check if I have any more leaks.

Here's few pix of that too

Nice pictures. I need to change my filter gasket and bush, I think I'll wait until spring to do that though. Interesting about the plugs, do you remember what the part number was for the NGKs?

I just got the NGK V-Power recommended for the M44. The part number is BKR6E, the stock number is 6962. If you go toe AutoZone or such and give them the stock number they normally have them.

If you go on the NGK website you can find all the other types. I tried both platinum and iridium before, but quite honestly, I now feel I've just been waisting money.
