I bought an adjustable clutch stop from ebay for like 5 bucks plus shipping. It arrived yesterday and I was trying to install it, except the bolt was to long, I cut it down MAYBE 1/2 an inch and it worked perfect. Took my car for a spin and the difference in shifting was incredible...so precise. I was amazed how a cheap little upgrade like this made a world of difference. GO BUY ONE YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPPOINTED!!! ***Also this mod is 10x better with a short shift kit, I forgot to mention I do have a Turner Motorsports SSK installed in my Ti.*** __________________ 1998 318TI DASC•Custom Black Leather Interior w/ Silver Inserts•AC Schnizter:Pedals/Shift Knob/E-Brake Handle•Aluminum Gauge Faces•Alpine Speakers/Tweeters•Custom False Floor System•K&N Filter•Hi-Flow Z3/ti 97’•M3 Clutch•Lightweight Flywheel•Turner Motorsports SSK•H&R Race Springs•Racing Dynamics:Front Strut Brace/Sway Bar/Shocks/Bodykit/Rear Spoiler•Brembo Cross-Drilled Rotors•Supersprint Exhaust•19” Seducer Wheels•M3 Mirrors•Clear Corner Lights/Side Markers•Euro Taillights•DZUZ Fastened•3.73 LSD | | | 05-03-2005, 05:34 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Lake George, NY Posts: 338 | How do you turn the car on because on my car i have to press down on the clutch to start the car | | | 05-03-2005, 05:34 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | What did you do to bypass the clutch switch, for starting the car? It starts up fine and totally deletes the dead space that you don't need when engaging the clutch. __________________ 1998 318TI DASC•Custom Black Leather Interior w/ Silver Inserts•AC Schnizter:Pedals/Shift Knob/E-Brake Handle•Aluminum Gauge Faces•Alpine Speakers/Tweeters•Custom False Floor System•K&N Filter•Hi-Flow Z3/ti 97’•M3 Clutch•Lightweight Flywheel•Turner Motorsports SSK•H&R Race Springs•Racing Dynamics:Front Strut Brace/Sway Bar/Shocks/Bodykit/Rear Spoiler•Brembo Cross-Drilled Rotors•Supersprint Exhaust•19” Seducer Wheels•M3 Mirrors•Clear Corner Lights/Side Markers•Euro Taillights•DZUZ Fastened•3.73 LSD | | | 05-03-2005, 06:59 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: madison, WI Posts: 402 | I made my own clutch stop by welding a bolt to a washer, you can check pics out of it on my cardomain link below. All I did was take a bolt and screwed it in. After that I put some felt on top of the bolt head to eliminate the metal to metal sound. It works great! No Cutting, No welding no nothing... | | | 05-31-2005, 04:56 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2004 Posts: 411 | I don't recommend this. Having paid $1200 for an upgraded clutch and flywheel, I do not want to risk not engaging the clutch fully, and slowly burning the clutch. I'm pretty sure that the engagement point is not 100 percent set, and changes upon temperature, and the gear you are in. Also, if you have an e34m5 clutch like me(pretty high effort), a clutch stop doesn't let you fully extend your foot, and in traffic, you will get one heck of a workout. | | | 05-31-2005, 06:57 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: madison, WI Posts: 402 | I made my own clutch stop as well, I welded a bolt to a washer. __________________ Mods: clear turn signals, Silverstar headlight bulbs, k&N custom CAI, removed A/C, lightened crank pulley, painted brakes, custom clutch stop, custom strut bar, x-brace, custom solid tranny mounts, Memphis sound system, Sachs sport clutch, B&M short shifter, lightened flywheel, redline MTL ....
