It's the M50/S50 that came with cast iron manifolds which will crack at the welds if they don't have room to expand. Take a magnet to your manifold. If it sticks, don't wrap it. | | | 02-25-2012, 01:39 AM | #413 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | so just to double check, my turbo manifold would be fine with the exhaust wrap right? __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 02-25-2012, 01:41 AM | #414 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Yeah, you should be fine. | | | 02-25-2012, 02:13 AM | #415 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Mine is wrapped with glass cloth but I wish it wasn't. Always itchy... OBX I-4 manifold is a stainless manifold. VHT makes a coating which is similar to what I used and they have a bunch of cool colors. I just used silver. John, The wrap that I used claims to reduce engine compartment temps by 70%. That seems a bit optimistic to me. I haven't ran my engine yet, but have you noticed a significantly cooler engine compartment? | | | 02-25-2012, 03:36 AM | #418 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | I painted mine with VHT a full can and I still itch if I have to do anything near the manifold. Sucks. It makes a big difference on lowering under hood temps. | | | 02-25-2012, 04:03 AM | #419 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Cool. Then it should help extend the life of say a carbon hood and all of the plastic components in the engine bay. | | | 02-25-2012, 06:08 AM | #420 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | sweet then good thing i already wrapped that thing and that the titanium wrap is not itchy __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 3 (0 members and 3 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
